Apprenticeship & Training Update Apprenticeship
• 57 total apprentices currently in the program.
• 25 of the 34 new students have shown strong participation in training.
• 65 new applications have been received so far in 2026. A noticeable number are coming from out of state after seeing information on Facebook.
• Interview Day was held August 14. Deep South and Boh Bros participated and interviewed apprentices.
• 8 apprentices received second interviews with Boh Bros.
• Deep South has picked up 3 additional apprentices, bringing their current total to 22 apprentices.
• Jonathan Whittington and Christian Allen have graduated from the program. Their graduation certificates have been delivered or mailed.
CDL & CCO Incentive Programs
• Four $2,500 CDL incentive checks were issued, for a total of $10,000.
• 5 additional members are currently working through the CDL process.
• One of those members does not currently have the required work hours and may not qualify before the permit expires.
• 5 members are working toward CCO certification.
• One member is waiting to reach the required 2,000 work hours before submitting for the CCO incentive.
Training & Employment
• Apprentices continue to receive classroom and hands-on training at the training site.
• Davis-Bacon certificates and employee-address information were updated following Interview Day.
• We continue working with contractors to place apprentices and increase employment opportunities.
Equipment / Auction
• The Miller welding machine, EZGO golf cart, and Grasshopper mower have been delivered to Henderson for auction as parts/repair equipment.
• The Ford 4000 tractor has also been delivered to Henderson for auction.
• The Ford 6000 tractor with the 10-foot Bush Hog is being prepared for the online auction as a package, with a $3,000 reserve.
Training Site
• We continue making repairs, performing maintenance, and improving equipment and facilities at the training site.
• Work continues on keeping equipment operational and disposing of equipment that is no longer economical for the program to maintain.
