Summary

In 1999 Direct Action was created by a concerned group of citizens that wanted to take control and eliminate the adverse elements in their neighborhood. The neighborhood had crime statistics that were the worst in Lorain County. Direct Action started programs and grassroots efforts to improve the community, these programs demonstrated to the public that when given access to the right opportunities, people including children from this neighborhood can be successful members of society.

Direct Action focus was on the ever growing need for emergency home repairs, foreclosure prevention, youth programming and crime prevention. Because of the needs mentioned, Direct Action started and focused on several programs such as Infilled housing, rehabilitation of existing homes, First day of school program, Rent and Deposit assistance program, Punt pass and kick program, after school program, just to name a few.

Mission Statement

Direct Action will provided neighborhood revitalization through community involvement, affordable housing, commercial redevelopment, economic empowerment and positive youth development for the Central Lorain Neighborhood.
