Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not merely a moment in history—it is a legacy that calls each of us to leadership, service, and action. May we honor our ancestors by continuing the work they began and leaving a stronger foundation for those who will follow."

"I have found that sincere people touch other people's lives much more deeply. Touching the lives of others should be one of the chief purposes of those who aspire to leadership. You can live with yourself and your conscience so much more easily by being sincere. Sincerity leads to spiritual contentment and inner serenity." - from "My Last Will and Testament" by Mary McLeod Bethune.

In her final writings, Dr. Bethune laid out a model of effective leadership. Through her own example, she greatly anticipated the next generation carrying the torch she had brought forth in her lifetime.

Where do you see the value of sincerity in your own life?

After witnessing last night’s dehumanizing attack on former First Lady Michelle Obama’s dignity, NCNW stands in defense of Mrs. Obama.

We witnessed an athlete who was invited to the White House use a national platform to spew hate, ignorance, and racist rhetoric as a "joke." The silence that followed from the broadcast booth, the network, and the White House reflects a continued notion that Mrs. Obama and Black women at large are not worthy of respect or care. NCNW vehemently disagrees.

NCNW was founded on the belief that the dignity of Black women is not negotiable. Mrs. Obama is a mother, a lawyer, a humanitarian, and a former First Lady of the United States. For over a decade, she served this country with grace, intelligence, and unmatched commitment. Even in the absence of these accolades and accomplishments, she is worthy of protection.

NCNW calls on Paramount+ and the UFC to issue a clear statement regarding human decency. Black women are watching. Our families are watching. We will not stop advocating for the respect, protection, and equality of our community.
