Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our 9th annual "Faith community....an essential piece to fight Stigma" dinner event on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
As mentioned in the past, this event was and still has been developed to raise awareness and to educate everyone about mental illness.
Our goal remains to discuss the realities of living with these conditions. We thank EVERYONE who joined in celebrating and giving recognition to our honorees (Shelby Moultrie – “Rising Star Award” Honoree, Valerie Howard - “Inspirational Award” Honoree, Sharquenta Richardson – “Above and Beyond Award” Honoree and Mari Colon –“Excellence Award” Honoree) as they have ALL proven to be the essential pieces of putting the HUGE PUZZLE OF mental health together.
A huge thank you to Adrienne Newton of Perfect Moment Designz LLC for once again providing the BEAUTIFUL set up of the room. Special thanks to Shannon Smith Morning Anchor at 19 Action News, for serving as emcee for the evening, Kimberly Clipper, founder of Kimberly Clipper Counseling and Therapy Services, LLC for serving as the Keynote Speaker and everyone who were listed on program to speak. We appreciate each and every one of you.
Thank you also to the Pastors and their church members who were in attendance Bishop Charles Howard & Pastor Valerie Howard (GODS Kngdom), Shavasia Lusane (New Life Global Fellowship), Pastor David Shears & Apostle Margie E. Mitchell Shears (Pursuit of His Glory Ministries) and Mahalia Renae Dockery-Chaney (Renewal & Deliverance Outreach Ministry) as well as all Elders and Ministers who were in attendance, your support of this event was truly appreciated.
So...now we will ask this question once again as I do every year: What can the community and faith leaders do? 1. Educate your communities and congregations; 2. Identify opportunities to support people with mental illnesses; 3. Connect individuals and families to help and 4. Promote acceptance of those with mental health issues.
We appreciate all the support given from MHARS Lorain County, Guiding Point and Lorain County Children Services for proving literature for those in attendance as well as those organizations and churches who placed ads in the event program booklet.
Thanks also goes out to Charlita Anderson White, Regina Aaron, Life Changing Wellness Center, Manuel Rodriguez, Tabatha Watson-Brown and several anonymous donors for providing raffle baskets. Special appreciation to DeLois Hollis and Betsy Ramos Diaz for your support in providing items for our honorees and participating pastors. We are very grateful to all of you who were in attendance (in spite of the change of date) and we pray you left with information you can use or pass on to someone who may find themselves in need of it in the future.
We hope to see you all and MANY, MANY MORE at the CELEBRATION of our 10th annual "Faith community...an essential piece to fight Stigma" dinner event which will be held during Mental Health Awareness month on THURSDAY, MAY 27, 2027!!
