🍅 A summer of good food at Taproot Community Kitchen! 🍅

Our shared-use commercial kitchen has been humming all summer, helping local food entrepreneurs prepare, bake, bottle, preserve, and grow.

From Patito’s Sweets, El Sabor De La Costa, Just Heavenly Fudge, EJs Meals, El Encanto, El Gustito to David’s BBQ, Chicaoji, and Vortex, it’s been wonderful to see so much delicious food being made right here on Lopez Island.

The kitchen is also supporting food preservation, emergency preparedness, local farmers, restaurants, and community organizations working to make the most of our island’s harvest. 🌱

This is what a shared kitchen can make possible: a place for small food businesses to get started, established businesses to grow, and our community to preserve and share local food.

Hello! We’re getting ready for today’s Winter Market at the Lopez Grange. See you there from 10 to 2! Blueberry muffins, apple cake and more! All made in our new cook room.

At the Lopez Grange’s winter market today, March 7, until 2pm. Hope to see you and enjoy some treats with us. Ask about our new commercial cook room and all the new equipment secured by grants and donations.

The Taproot Cook Room is officially open for business!

In February 2026 we received approval from San Juan County and our “Final Occupancy” status has been set as complete! We’re open for business! Check out the fire suppression test in the photo, we passed with flying colors (and balloons)!

We’re are planning an Open House to celebrate all the hard work that went into this unique project and new space. Pencil in May 2! Meanwhile, we will be at the Lopez Grange Winter Market with sweets baked in the new space — join us!

At the Lopez Grange Winter Market today from 10am to 2pm. We have apple cake, blueberry muffins and elderflower syrup. Food by donation and conversation for free! Learn more about our community commercial kitchen.
