Steve Lillestol is once again offering locally grown wheat for the 2026 Grain CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)!

The variety is Fortuna wheat, a hard, red spring wheat with good protein and baking qualities. Steve will mill all the wheat for you at a nominal price, or if you like, the Locavores and LCLT offer the use of a smaller stone mill to LCLT members.

The Grain CSA provides shares of 20 pounds of whole wheat berries for $24. To order shares, make a payment of $24 per share prior to April 18th.

Please email [email protected] to sign up.

This Black History Month, LCLT would like to recognize the founders of the Community Land Trust model.

New Communities, Inc. came out of the Southern Civil Rights Movement with the hope of securing greater economic and political independence for African American farmers. At the time, it was the largest Black-owned landholding in the U.S.

We have an announcement to make! Lys and Tony are the new owners of the Forest House.

LCLT began construction in 2024, completed the build in 2025, and the new owners were able to move in this month.

This house was built with the intention of promoting food systems resiliency on Lopez by housing folks who contribute to the local food system. We are so grateful to these two for continuing our mission.

Thank you to Ets Architecture as well for the Forest House’s design.

Nancy Nordhoff, long-time friend, supporter, and mentor.
1932-2026

Nancy was unique and generous, ever helpful with pertinent advice, fierce in her support for stronger communities, and always advocating for women to increase their leadership skills.

Lopez Community Land Trust benefited greatly from Nancy. She was a visionary full of practical advice and brimming full of love and inspiration. Her legacy lives on in our work.

We want to give a huge shoutout to Sophie Citro for renovating the kids’ garden at the school!

We partnered with Sophie to apply for a Lopez Thrift Shop grant back in March of last year and are so inspired by her work.

The garden renovation includes new beds, a trellis tunnel, a root viewer, new signage, and new benches.

Thank you to the school’s LIFE program, the thrift shop, and everyone involved in making this happen. We are so grateful to Sophie for her amazing work.

Did you know that October is co-op month, and that the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the International Year of the Co-op?! Lopez Community Land Trust is proud to provide permanently affordable access to land to seven limited-equity housing cooperatives. LCLT is a leader in the Community Land Trust World for combining CLTs with housing co-ops. Earlier this month LCLT Executive Director Sandy Bishop spoke on a panel at the Northwest Community Land Trust Conference on "Pathways to Permanently Affordable Housing Co-ops," sharing over 30 years of experience. Photo of Morgantown, LCLT's first housing co-op built in 1992, and Sandy presenting at the CLT conference.
