State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Southwest Volunteer Supervisor, Kym Wilkinson, educated an enthusiastic group of 21 people this afternoon in Medicare with Medicare bingo. There was so much interest, and we learned a lot. Kym is very passionate about the work she does, and it definitely shows! Everyone went home with lots of giveaways, and there were a few coverall bingo winners who got to choose a prize from among a table full of goodies.
Due to popular demand, and as there is no designated SHIP counselor in Martin County, Kim has agreed to come back during Medicare's Open Enrollment period (Oct 15-Dec 7) to meet with people one-on-one to do Medicare reviews. A tentative date of Oct 23 was discussed. A flyer and more information will be forthcoming regarding the date and how to schedule individual appointment times, so please continue to watch our FB page for details.
Thank you for coming today, Kym, and the interactive presentation.
On a side note, Kym has two sisters-in-law who work in Loogootee: Mary Anderson (Edward Jones/Brent Courter) and Rachel Anderson (Williams Brothers). And, her sister, Annette Anderson is Director of Marketing & Admissions at Eastgate Manor and Prairie Village, and has been to the Center a few times on MCCOA lunch/bingo days, and has called bingo.
A huge shoutout and Thank You to The Crane Credit Union for sponsoring the delicious dessert treats from Papa John's. Several folks were not aware that Papa John's offered desserts on their menu.
Four attendees were first time visitors to the Center, and three people completed membership applications. All on all, a very successful day!
