There’s something magical about a quiet trail that makes you slow down without even trying 💚

This hike through Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka, Florida felt like stepping into a living green tunnel—cool air, winding paths, and ferns spilling over the ravine walls like nature’s own artwork.

Many of the ferns you’ll see here are Southern Sword Ferns (Nephrolepis exaltata), one of Florida’s most iconic native plants. These lush, arching ferns thrive in the park’s shaded, moist ravines and help prevent erosion while creating that dreamy, prehistoric feel we all love. You’ll also spot shield ferns and wood ferns, quietly doing their thing and reminding us that slow growth is still powerful growth 🌱
Moments like this are a reminder that adventure doesn’t always have to be loud or extreme—sometimes it’s found one mindful step at a time on a fern-lined trail.

🍄🌿 Tiny Forest Treasures: Turkey Tail Mushrooms! 🌿🍄

While out exploring the trail, we spotted these beautiful little shelf mushrooms growing along a branch — commonly known as Turkey Tail mushrooms (named for their colorful, layered bands that resemble a wild turkey’s tail feathers). Nature really knows how to show off!

Turkey Tail mushrooms are incredibly important to forest ecosystems. They help break down dead wood, recycle nutrients back into the soil, and support the health of the surrounding environment. Plus, they’re a great reminder to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the small wonders hiding along the path. 🌎💚

⚠️ As always — admire wild mushrooms with your eyes, not your taste buds, unless you’re with an expert. Proper identification is key when exploring the wild!

🌟 “Hey Mom, look! Another gator! 🐊 Yep, that’s the phrase of the day! Took the kiddos and my boyfriend on a little adventure to Orlando Wetlands Park, just a hop away from Christmas, FL. This place is a birdwatcher’s dream right now with so many migrating species—it’s absolutely stunning! 🌿✨

And guess what? It’s basically a gator hotspot too, with a whopping 1700 of them chilling around! 😂 Luckily, they were all sunbathing and giving us the chill vibes.

🌄✨ What do I love most about hiking? It’s the climb! It’s not just about the physical challenge; it’s about the mental strength that tells you, “You can achieve anything.” Recently, at Ravine Garden State Park, I put this belief to the test. Standing at the base and looking up at those stairs made me question my physical abilities after so long.

After years away, I was back with my family, eager to set an example for my two daughters. I took each step slowly yet confidently, and to my delight, my girls tackled the climb too. These small victories might not seem like much, but they build up and lead to even greater achievements down the line.

So, this got me thinking: what’s a little victory you’ve celebrated lately? I’d love to hear about it, no matter how big or small! 🌟 ~Crystal

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is… pause. 🌊✨

Taking a mindful moment by the water has a way of quieting the noise we carry with us. The gentle ripples, the open sky, the rhythm of nature—it all reminds us to breathe a little deeper and soften a little more.

Grounding yourself in the earth helps steady your heart. Letting the sounds of the water, the wind, and passing wings wash over you helps heal parts of your soul you didn’t even realize were tired.

Out here, there’s no rush. No expectations. Just presence.
Just peace.
Just you, exactly as you are in this moment.

May you find time today—whether by water, woods, or sky—to reconnect, reset, and let nature do what it does best: gently bring you back to yourself. 🌿🕊️

Hey friends 💛
Wow… it’s been a hot minute. Like, “wow I forgot where the post button is” long. 😅

Many of you guessed it—I’ve been away for a while. Sometimes life shows up unannounced, flips the table, and reminds you to pause and put things back into perspective. Just like a puzzle, sometimes we have to take the pieces of ourselves we don’t love, let them heal, and gently fit them back where they belong.

Am I 100% back to my old self? Nope.
Am I okay with that? Absolutely.

Because life isn’t about perfection. It’s not about follower counts or dollar signs. It’s about becoming the best version of you—whatever that looks like in the season you’re in.

Along the way, I realized something important: She Can Adventure drifted a little from its down-home, grassroots heart. So we’re going back to basics. For me, that meant getting back outside, adventuring again, and collecting stories worth sharing.

And I don’t just want to share my stories—I want to hear yours.

From day one, She Can Adventure was never meant to be about me. I’m totally okay not being the “face” of anything. This space exists for women supporting women in the outdoors—no matter how you adventure.
Thru-hiker, camper, scuba diver, wakeboarder, skateboarder, weekend wanderer… if you love the outdoors, you belong here.

So let’s start fresh.
Easy. Honest. Encouraging.

Let’s share our adventures, cheer each other on, and lead with love. Be the peace you want to see—and love yourself as fiercely as you can.
