Larry dedicated so much of his life to serving others, especially the countless young athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers whose lives he touched through Pop Warner. His leadership, wisdom, kindness, and unwavering commitment to our organization created a legacy that will continue for generations.

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of another tremendous loss for our Mid Florida Pop Warner family.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Larry Sylvester.

For 33 years, Larry dedicated his life to Pop Warner and the countless young athletes, families, and volunteers whose lives he touched. His journey began with Lyman Pop Warner before joining the Mid Florida Pop Warner leadership team. Throughout his years of service, Larry served on the Management Team, as League Scholastic Coordinator alongside Gary Mitrano, and ultimately as President of Mid Florida Pop Warner. His leadership extended beyond our league as he also proudly served as Vice President of Southeast Region Pop Warner, helping shape and strengthen Pop Warner throughout the region.

Larry believed that every child deserved the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed through youth sports. He led with humility, integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was best for the children. His leadership wasn't measured by the titles he held, but by the lives he impacted and the respect he earned from everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

His remarkable dedication was recognized at every level of the organization. Larry was a Mid Florida Pop Warner Pioneer Award Recipient, and Southeast Region Pioneer Award Recipient. He was also inducted into the Mid Florida Pop Warner Hall of Fame, the Southeast Region Hall of Fame, and the National Pop Warner Hall of Fame—honors that reflect a lifetime of extraordinary service and leadership.

Larry's legacy is one of selfless service, mentorship, and unwavering devotion to the Pop Warner mission. His influence will continue to live on through the generations of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and leaders he inspired.

To Larry's family, thank you for sharing him with the entire Pop Warner family for so many years. Please know that our hearts grieve alongside yours, and we will continue to lift you up in our prayers.

Larry, thank you for your leadership, your wisdom, your friendship, and your countless years of service. Your fingerprints are forever on Mid Florida, the Southeast Region, and National Pop Warner. Your legacy will never fade, and your memory will forever be cherished.

Rest peacefully, Larry. Thank you for showing us what true servant leadership looks like. You will always be a part of the Pop Warner family.

Today, our hearts are heavy once again as we mourn the loss of another Pop Warner legend, Armye Witherspoon Sr.

For more than three decades, Armye dedicated his life to the children and families of Pop Warner. Beginning his journey in 1991, he served in countless roles—including Coach, Football Commissioner, Mid Florida Management Team member, and League Secretary. No matter the title, his commitment never wavered.

Armye was one of those rare individuals whose presence commanded respect. Many knew him as the stern face and strong voice of Mid Florida Pop Warner, but those who truly knew him also knew his heart. He cared deeply about this organization, its history, and the generations of young athletes who came through it. If there was ever a question about our league's past, Armye was the person everyone turned to.

His impact was recognized through some of Pop Warner's highest honors. Armye was a Mid Florida Pop Warner Pioneer Award Recipient, a Southeast Region Pioneer Award Recipient, and an inductee into both the Mid Florida Pop Warner Hall of Fame and the Southeast Region Hall of Fame. These honors reflected not only his years of service but also the tremendous legacy he leaves behind.

The Mid Florida Pop Warner family has lost a true pioneer, mentor, leader, and friend. While we grieve his passing, we are forever grateful for the countless hours, wisdom, leadership, and love he gave to this organization.

To the Witherspoon family, we extend our deepest condolences. Please know you are in our thoughts, our prayers, and our hearts.

Thank you, Armye, for everything you gave to Pop Warner. Your legacy will continue to inspire future generations, and your name will forever be woven into the history of Mid Florida Pop Warner.
