A huge thank you to the Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild for their generous $1,000 donation to Youth & Family Link!

These funds were raised through the Lake Guild Sew & Sew Sale held at Youth & Family Link in April and will be used to support our free weekly Open Gym program, providing local youth with a safe, welcoming place to stay active, build friendships, and engage in positive activities.

We are incredibly grateful for community partners like the Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild whose support helps make programs like Open Gym possible.

Kathy Cardiff gave a wonderful program featuring her experiences working with wool and textured cotton. She offered many fabrics, kits and patterns for sale. We also enjoyed our own show and tell creations and community quilts.

Next month we will not have a regular guild meeting but we encourage everyone to join us at the Cowlitz County Fair by entering your quilts, coming to view the quilts and by volunteering.

The Program for our June Meeting is Kathy Cardiff of The Cottage at Cardiff Farms. She will bring a trunk show and a pop-up shop. Kathy is well known for wool applique and country cozy designs. This should be a very interesting evening.

Other activities include door prizes, show and tell and documenting your block of the month blocks. Membership sign up is open for next year and help with fair entries is available if needed.

GUILD MEETINGS are held on the 3rd Monday of the month from 7-9pm / Social Time starts at 6:30pm. No meetings in July and December. We meet at Emmanuel Lutheran Church 2218 E. Kessler Blvd. Longview, WA 98632. The entry door will open at 6pm, but must remain locked, so if it is not manned, please ring the doorbell in the upper left corner.

In response to the recent tragedy at the Nippon site, the Ladies of the Lake Quilt guild donated nineteen quilts that were delivered to the union hall of the mill workers this morning. It is our hope that the families will feel loved and comforted. The Cowlitz County Chaplaincy and the volunteers in the booth will be distributing the quilts to the families for us. (unfortunately one quilt did not get photographed.)

Here are the photos from the May guild meeting, finally. Melissa McGill shared her experiences of mutually teaching quilting skills and learning their hand dyeing processes. She has beautiful fabric for sale. We also enjoyed our own show and tell items and block of the month progress.
