Tonight, residents of southwest Washington stood in Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez's path to her fundraiser just outside of Longview, banging empty pots and pans to demand she take immediate action to stop Israel’s forced starvation of Gaza.

: Fund what we need in our district (affordable housing! education! healthcare!), not Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza!

SIGN THE LETTER VIA THE LINK IN 's BIO: protectingourrightscd3.org

"We, residents and organizations in Washington state’s Congressional District 3, call on , , and to publicly demand the immediate release and halted deportations of Columbia student , Tufts student , Washington state farmworker organizer , and many other community members across the country who have been locked in the cages of ICE detention centers for their advocacy for justice.

This administration is coming for those who braved the US immigration system, who are standing up for their communities, and who are speaking up for justice. Disappearing our neighbors because of their courageous moral leadership is a terrifying attack on our First Amendment right to free speech – one of the bedrock values of a democratic society. This means that everyone advocating for a more just world, regardless of immigration or citizenship status, is at risk. For as the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.”

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Senator Patty Murray, and Senator Maria Cantwell: We demand that you speak loudly and publicly right now to condemn this violent silencing of the bravest advocates for justice among us, taking the following action:

Put out statements via immediate press release and posts to your official social media accounts which condemn the aforementioned ICE detentions, demand this administration immediately release and stop the deportations of the aforementioned detainees, voice support for the aforementioned detainees, and affirm your constituents’ right to free speech.

Every day you wait to take action is a day the Trump administration learns that they can get away with pushing their authoritarian agenda one step further. And in the words of post-WWII German pastor Martin Niemöller, by the time they come for the rest of us, there will be no one left to speak out."

On April 24th, hosted a "town hall" in Vancouver with *nowhere near* the amount of space needed inside for the *huge crowds* of her constituents who arrived *enraged* by her voting record and ready to speak their minds.

Volunteers passed out name tag stickers created by a local artist that read "MGP: Stop the Genocide Now". Within 15 minutes, every last sticker had been distributed to those going inside 's event.

Two people's town halls sprang up on *both* sides of her scheduled event. Folx stepped up to the bullhorn to speak out about all kinds of human rights issues. Advocates for Palestine called out 's horrific continued funding of Israel's genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, demanding she stop the genocide now. One of the people's town halls actually began when the crowd began chanting together "Free Free Palestine!"

The tide is turning, friends! Stay tuned for more ways to take action in solidarity with Palestine in soon!

The current administration is using ICE to target and detain advocates for justice in our communities, including those trying to stop the genocide in Gaza and folks like Alfredo “Lelo” Juarez Zeferino who are fighting for labor rights here in Washington state.

We’re contacting our elected officials to demand they:
- Call for the immediate release of detained community advocates
- Affirm their commitment to support their constituents’ right to free speech

In addition to daily phone calls, join us in flooding their physical mail with postcards.

The focus of our current campaign is Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez.
- She talks about her love of children, yet remains unmoved as thousands of Palestinian children are murdered.
- She stands by silently as free speech is threatened.
- She used her vote to suppress ours (via the SAVE Act).
- And she joined republicans to censure her colleague Rep. Al Green for speaking up.

She needs to know her district expects more.
1. Write your statement
2. Send to her office (see the last 3 photos for locations)
3. Don’t forget a stamp!
4. Repeat

Postcard ideas: Find a postcard at a local shop, purchase from a Palestinian artist, or design your own (blank postcards can be found at craft stores. Just follow the guide in the last photo)

Folks in our rural community have been gathering all month long to let Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez know that we refuse to look away from the devastation she is funding with our tax dollars in Gaza. With gratitude for the witnessing eye imagery of , we say: .

The grief is too heavy to carry alone, so last night we practiced carrying it together. We read aloud the names of 115 Palestinian infants (under the age of 1) who have been murdered by Israel with the support of 's pro-genocide voting record. We read 115 names because that is the average number of Palestinians who are dying EVERY DAY in Gaza right now.

Some of us wrote these precious names on biodegradable paper and we offered them to the soil of our grief. We planted a small maple tree so that its roots would co-mingle with these names in the soil, a sign of our ongoing commitment to take action to stop this genocide and organize for a free Palestine.

[Image descriptions: Protesters gathered at twilight with two collaged panels by a local artist of painted maple leaves with symbols and messages of solidarity with Palestine. A golden full moon maple sapling and a container of soil with the names of Palestinian infants who have been killed in the genocide written in pencil on brown paper. Orange and red marigolds. Protesters gathered with illuminated eyes and a banner reading "Rep. Marie G-P: Stop funding genocide"]

Last night, the people of Congressional District 3 created a memorial to the Palestinian children murdered in the past year of Israel's US-funded genocide in Gaza, which has voted to fund with our tax dollars at EVERY. SINGLE. OPPORTUNITY.

We built it right on her office doorstep in Kelso.
Because she is responsible.
Because she has made us complicit.

Because as James Baldwin put it, “The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.”

Children's shoes. Infant onesies. Candles. Pictures of Palestinian children who our congresswoman has paid Israel to have wiped from the face of the earth. Herbs and flowers from the earth who are in mourning with us.

Our grief, our rage, our solidarity - all poured out on this altar of the people.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez: Your constituents won't look away from the children you have murdered with our tax dollars.

STOP THE GENOCIDE NOW
CEASEFIRE NOW
ARMS EMBARGO NOW

PALESTINE WILL BE FREE

[Image/video description: Pictures and videos of candles, photographs of Palestinian children, white cloth with red poppies, watchful eye images, herbs and plants, children's shoes and clothing, messages that say MGP stop arming Israel, disability justice = free Palestine, stop bombing Gaza now, and other messages of solidarity with Palestine, multicolored paper birds hanging on yarn, protesters working together to build the memorial]
