Order of the Arrow - Chinook Chapter

Order of the Arrow - Chinook Chapter Order of the Arrow - Chinook Chapter The Order of the Arrow is the National Honor Society for the Boy Scouts of America. Urner Goodman and Carroll A.

The Order of the Arrow (OA) was founded by Dr. E. Edson in 1915 at the Treasure Island Camp of the Philadelphia Council, Boy Scouts of America. It became an official program experiment in 1922 and was approved as part of the Scouting program in 1934. In 1948 the OA, recognized as the BSA's national brotherhood of honor campers, became an official part of the Boy Scouts of America. In 1998, the Ord

er of the Arrow became recognized as Scouting's National Honor Society when it expanded its reach beyond camping to include broader service to Scouting and the community. Currently, our geographic area covers Cowlitz and part of Wahkiakum counties in Washington, as well as Columbia county in Oregon. We are a part of the Wauna La-Mon'Tay lodge (http://www.cpcbsa.org/activities/order-of-the-arrow), serviced by the Cascade Pacific Council of Oregon and Washington which is headquartered in Portland, Oregon (http://www.cpcbsa.org). Our Chapter meets the second Thursday of every month at 900 11th Ave, Longview, WA 98632, beginning with ceremonies practice at 6:00PM. Our meetings generally run until 8:00PM.

As many of you have heard the Council is “redistricting”. The number of districts in our Council will drop from 14 to 8. Chinook, with the exception of St Helens and Scappoose, is being absorbed by/merged into the current Columbia River District which encompasses most of Clark County and their respective school districts. New names for Districts and Chapters have not been decided on or announced at this time.

They hope to have the details worked out and all the new districts chartered by July 1 - which means as of that date this page will no longer be maintained and will quite possibly be archived or deleted.

The Lodge has asked me to continue serving as an associate adviser in the new chapter and I look forward to seeing everyone in the future.

Many changes coming for us in the near future. This is not the end, but a new beginning. If you have questions I will try to answer them as timely and best as I can.

The Vigil Honor is the highest honor that the Order of the Arrow can bestow upon its members for service to lodge, council, and Scouting.”
