Cory and LaTamara’s journey has been remarkable since the day they found out they were going to be homeowners in our office. The big hug filled with tears was the start of a milestone that had to be accomplished.

Well… yesterday, they bought their brand new home! These high school sweethearts with their 3 kids will no longer be housed in small 2 bedroom apartments. They have worked hard and they deserve it!

This is what Habitat is all about… helping vulnerable hardworking families with children, veterans, seniors, and individuals with disabilities live in a safe and warm house.

Kelley Burton, AVP Branch Manager at Southside Bank, has been a huge supporter of our organization and its mission. She is a volunteer and has also decided to contribute to our 41st birthday campaign, so we would like to give her a shout out!

When we asked her “Why did you decide to get involved in the 41 years campaign?”, this is what she responded:
Home ownership is something to be proud of for many generations. You can create a place where your family can thrive!

If you are wondering what motivated Kelley to get involved with Habitat, this is what she said:
Many years ago, my sister was a recipient of a habitat home. I personally have seen what home ownership can do for families! It gives you a boost of confidence.
I love that Habitat cares about the community it serves.

We are seeking an experienced Construction & Repair Manager to lead our residential construction and critical repair programs throughout Northeast Texas.

The ideal candidate is someone with residential construction, rehabilitation, project management, or contractor coordination experience who enjoys solving problems, managing multiple projects, and making a visible impact in the community.

Benefits Include:
• $60,000 annual salary
• 14 days paid vacation
• 16 paid holidays
• 10-day paid winter shutdown
• $60 monthly cell phone stipend
• Professional development and training opportunities
• Mileage reimbursement for approved business travel

This position includes regular field work and occasional Saturday volunteer build days.

“Children experiencing housing instability miss an average of 17.5 days of school.”

More people in our community are showing us 💙love💚 by getting involved in our 41 years campaign. Here’s what Francisco Rojas with Longview ISD has to say:

“When I got introduced and involved with Habitat, I was moved by the amount of impact it has in the lives of so many East Texas veterans, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and children.”

“As someone who works for the school district, I can assure you that safe and warm housing directly impacts children’s learning abilities tremendously. When children are living in a safe and warm house, they are likely to attend school regularly vs those who aren’t.” Francisco said.

“In fact, children in safe, warm, and stable homes miss an average of 9.4 days of school per year, compared to 17.5 days for children experiencing housing instability, and up to 50% of children over the age of 3 living in unstable or sub-standard environments require professional referrals for developmental and cognitive evaluations”, Francisco added.

“It is a great privilege to support organizations like Habitat in our area and I encourage others to get involved as well”.
