There’s a common misconception that human trafficking means someone has been kidnapped or transported somewhere against their will. That isn’t always the case.

Trafficking can happen in our own communities, and a person does not have to be moved from one place to another to be trafficked.

Traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to exploit people for commercial s*x or labor. Recognizing what trafficking actually looks like helps us recognize exploitation when we see it.

🚨⚖️ White Oak Man Charged With Sexual Assault After Longview Officer Finds Woman During Park Patrol ⚖️🚨

Longview, TX — An 18-year-old White Oak man has been charged with s*xual assault after a woman told a Longview police officer she was being s*xually assaulted inside a vehicle at McWhorter Park, according to an arrest affidavit.

At approximately 11:13 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, a Longview police officer conducting a patrol of McWhorter Park located a suspicious vehicle with Eliel Roger Cabrera and a woman inside, according to the affidavit.

After the officer separated Cabrera and the woman, the woman told police that Cabrera had been s*xually assaulting her.

Cabrera was arrested at approximately 1:39 a.m. Monday and booked into the Gregg County Jail.

The 18-year-old is charged with Sexual Assault, a second-degree felony.

💵 Bond: $50,000

According to jail records, Cabrera remained in custody as of Monday afternoon.

The charge is an allegation. Cabrera is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

ICE agents arrested more than 900 suspected human traffickers during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Department of Homeland Security announced. They also rescued 180 victims, which included 30 children.

🚨The leader of a Massachusetts s*x trafficking ring pleaded guilty to her role in s*x trafficking two kids and one adult following an investigation by ICE.

Christy Parker, a U.S. citizen also known as Lula, used physical beatings, threats, intimidation, sleep deprivation, starvation and other means to coerce at least one adult victim and two child victims to engage in repeated commercial s*x acts in and around Fall River. She even threatened to have the authorities take the adult victim’s toddler away from her.

Although many Americans think ICE’s work is strictly immigration related, ICE enforces over 400 federal laws and statutes. Ending human trafficking is one of the agency’s most important missions.
