☀️ HEAT ADVISORY & SEVERE WEATHER REFUGE ACTIVATION UPDATE☀️🥵🔥

It is miserable outside, folks. 🥵
We are working as quickly as possible to activate our severe weather refuge later this week. 💛

We have our location worked out! 🙌😍😭

Now we are working through the final details, coordinating volunteers and transportation, gathering supplies, and getting everything in place so we can open as soon as possible.

As we are doing inventory, these are the items we are low on. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. ♥️🙏

Sonic strikes again! 👏🏼😍♥️

Huge thanks to our friends at the Pine Tree Sonic for supplying over 30 slushies today to help keep our folks cool in this blazing Texas summer heat. ☀️

😊💛 Our neighbors were delighted to see us pull up with this unexpected treat.

From sponsoring meals, to supporting our Summer Water Cooler Project, to purchasing this brand-new bicycle so one of our neighbors can safely get to work each day, the wonderful folks at Sonic continue to show up where it matters most.

☎️ Last week, we put out a call for help for laundry services. 🧺

You answered. 📞♥️

Because of your generosity, we were able to provide laundry services for 3️⃣5️⃣ neighbors today. 🧺

Actually, today turned out to be our biggest laundry day yet!

✅ 85 loads of laundry
✅ 35 people served
✅ Total cost of $154.75

🏘❤️ It Takes a Village ❤️🏘

➡️ One Love has never been funded by government grants. That is something we are extraordinarily proud of.
➡️ We've never had a magic solution. 🪄

✅️ People power is what has kept One Love alive and serving our neighbors
👏🏼 Ordinary people doing extraordinary things through acts of love and genuine care.
Yep...
🤱 Single mama's
👨‍🌾 Working class folks
💲 Folks on a fixed income who understand struggle because they have been there
🧠 Individuals with a history of mental health challenges
♥️ Those who love people who have been impacted by injustice, homelessness, or lack

Today, I have a big ask:
🏘 Will you lock arms with us and consider becoming part of that village❓️

If every person who believes in our mission gave what they could...just imagine...💭
🤲🏽 Maybe that's $5 a month.
🤲🏽 Maybe it's $10.
🤲🏽 Maybe it's $20.
🤲🏽 Some can do $50.
🤲🏽 Others might be able to do $100.

🥰 The amount matters far less than the consistency. 😊

If we all pitch in, come together, and each carry a small piece of the mission, no one is left to carry it alone.

Recurring giving helps us continue:
🍽 Feeding hungry neighbors
🚙 Providing transportation to medical appointments, outreach locations, and job interviews
🧦 Distributing essential supplies
🆔 Securing IDs, birth certificates, and important identitying documentation
🏥 Connecting people to medical and mental health care
🏠 Navigating housing opportunities
⚖️ Advocating for those facing legal barriers
❤️ Showing up day after day for our folks

The last few years have been challenging. Between public controversy, losing our physical location, and decreased visibility, many of our recurring donors understandably fell away. 💔

Even then, we kept pressing forward.
✨️ We didn't give up.
✨️ We continued to serve.
✨️ Love.
✨️ Fight.
✨️ Believe.

The time has come for us to rebuild our monthly donor family to ensure One Love is sustainable, stable, and able to continue showing up for years to come. 🎉

We have seen people come together for our most vulnerable neighbors before, and look what we were able to accomplish. 🥹✨️

For our neighbors experiencing homelessness, access to laundry is crucial.
✨️It reduces skin infections.
✨️It reduces foot issues.
✨️It reduces the spread of illness.
✨️Clean clothes looks like our folks walking into a job interview, a doctor’s appointment, or court without feeling ashamed.
✨️It provides confidence and dignity. ♥️

Every week, we help dozens of people wash their clothes.

Laundry services are expensive, and we could really use community support to help keep it going. 🫧🧦
