🌱 Why Mulch Matters

Using mulch in your landscape is one of the simplest ways to save time, water, and money during the summer.

💧 Reduces water use — mulch can cut watering needs by up to 50%
🌿 Suppresses weeds — fewer weeds means less maintenance
🌼 Improves soil health — reduces the need for fertilizer over time
💰 Saves money and effort — less watering, weeding, and upkeep all season long

For best results, choose shredded, dye-free, natural mulch to keep your garden healthier and more sustainable.

Ceiling fans have a summer setting that many people overlook.
Most fans include a switch that changes the blade direction to counterclockwise in the summer. This helps create a downdraft that moves air more effectively, making a room feel up to 4°F cooler without actually lowering the thermostat.
That small adjustment can improve comfort and reduce the need for air conditioning—saving energy while keeping your home more comfortable during warmer months.

Downsizing your trash service is one of the simplest ways to save money and reduce waste in Longmont.

The City of Longmont offers three residential trash sizes:

Large (96 gallons) – $26.30/month
Medium (48 gallons) – $14.10/month
Small (48 gallons, every other week) – $7.10/month

That means you could cut your bill in half—or more—just by choosing a smaller cart and being more intentional about what you throw away.

Before you upgrade or renew, ask yourself: can you go down a size?

Less waste. Lower cost. Same essential service.

The average home uses about 80 rolls of paper towels every year—that’s a lot of waste for something used once and thrown away.
Switching to reusable rags or Swedish dishcloths is a simple change that can dramatically reduce household waste while saving money over time. These alternatives are durable, washable, and designed to replace hundreds of single-use paper towels.
Small shifts in daily habits add up to big environmental savings for our community and beyond.

We’re pushing for the passage of 5 federal bills designed to close dangerous oil and gas loopholes that put our health and environment at risk. From requiring chemical disclosure to mandating water testing, these bills—the FRAC, CLOSE, SHARED, CLEANER, and FRESHER Acts—aim to hold the industry accountable once and for all.

How can you help?

Contact your U.S. House Reps and urge them to co-sponsor the Frack Pack.

Commit to learning more about how these federal loopholes affect your community.
