Our Story

Troop 64 Longmont is made up of two linked Scouts BSA Troops based out of the Heart of Longmont at 350 11th Ave. Our Boys Troop has approximately 26 active Scouts, while our new Girls Troop has 5 active Scouts. We meet Tuesday evenings at 7PM throughout the school year, working on leadership and outdoor skills. The Troop has a full year schedule. We work to have at least one activity each month, in addition to our Tuesday night meetings. During the summer we trade in the meetings for 4-6 activities a month, including Tuesday evenings. Tuesday evening activities include archery, frisbee golf, fishing, canoeing, bike rides, kickball games, hikes, tubing, Top Golf, and more. We camp throughout the year, including winter camping trips in tents (Klondike) and cabins (winter weekend). We do a summer camp week mid to late June each year, alternating between a camp in Colorado, and a camp further away, close to a National Park. The Troop helps to manage the Longmont Scouts Turkey Turnout Food Drive, the largest food drive in the Longmont area.

Have a busy son or daughter but want them in Scouts? That’s fine! Scouts is about the journey, and not about individual meetings and events. We understand kids have sports, band, and most importantly, school obligations. Many of Scouts (and parents) learn to balance these and progress through Scouting at the pace that works for them. By no means do Scouts need to do it all (but are more than welcome to).

We are approaching our 100th year, first chartered and continually operating since 1921! Our most famous Scout is likely Vance Brand, the astronaut (who earned Life Scout). We have had close to 100 Eagle Scouts and thousands of Scouts come through our Troop in this time. We are open to all boys and girls, 11-17 years old. Stop by a meeting, or reach out and try out the Troop! Our Scouts come from more than 8 local schools.
