BCPH is warning the community that a dangerous form of fentanyl is circulating in the county’s illicit drug supply.

Fentanyl can be found in pills and powders and may be mixed with other substances without a person knowing. If you or someone you know uses drugs, take steps to reduce the risk of overdose:

-Assume any pill or powder obtained outside a pharmacy may contain fentanyl.
-Carry naloxone (Narcan) and know how to use it.
-Avoid using drugs alone.
-Use fentanyl test strips, but remember that a negative result does not guarantee safety.
-Start with a small amount when using a new substance.
-Call 911 immediately if you suspect an overdose.

Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose and is available at many local pharmacies.

Thank you to the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce for the support. We’re so excited - only one week to go until Unity!

We are so proud to announce the 2026 Unity Funds the Community grant recipients! This year, three incredible Longmont organizations will receive funding to continue their vital work in our community.

Aspen Center for Child Development is using grant funds to provide tuition assistance for lower income families at their downtown Longmont early childhood education program, giving every child the same bright start regardless of their family's financial situation.

Recovery Café Longmont is a community of refuge and healing in the heart of downtown, walking alongside people recovering from substance use disorder, mental health challenges, and trauma. Grant funds will support hot meals, recovery circles, peer support, and resource navigation.

Veterans Community Project of Longmont is using funds to support their Veterans Support Services program, providing transitional housing, emergency assistance, financial literacy classes, and employment support to veterans who need it most.

Unity Funds the Community was established with the generous support of High Plains Bank and the Longmont Community Foundation, and to date we have distributed more than $60,000 to local non-profits thanks to donors and supporters like you. This year, Walmart has made a tremendous contribution to the fund, and we are so grateful for their generosity.

Here is how you can help grow these grants even further on August 28! When you purchase drink tokens at Unity in the Community, 50% goes directly to the fund. Raise a glass from Left Hand Brewing Company, Küper Wine Bar, or The Pumphouse Brewery knowing that every sip makes a difference for these three organizations.

Want to give before the big day? You can donate directly to Unity Funds the Community right now! Every gift goes straight back into Longmont: https://l.ead.me/Longmont-Unity-Fund

Come celebrate these incredible organizations with us on August 28 at 4th and Kimbark in Downtown Longmont. Free admission. All are welcome. See you there!
