Moving Beyond Shame - A Restorative Justice Story
At the pre-conference, Eduardo*, 16, could barely look at me.

BRITE Collaborative (fka: LCJP) is a 501c3 nonprofit that strengthens communities and relationships that contribute to equity, justice, and access by bringing restorative interventions to everyone. Slumped down in his chair, he told his story nervously while staring at the floor. I tried to connect, to ensure him that I could see the Eduardo who had courage to take responsibility for his choices, who loved drawing and music, who was adored by his siblings... but he was stuck in the fact that he had shoplifted, his mom was disappointed, and he was deeply immersed in shame. *All names have been changed. ~ Read more: https://conta.cc/3nJIvps

It's an important day for Teaching Peace/LCJP/BRITE Collaborative. Today is the anniversary of the passing of our founder, Dr Beverly Title.

Last week, we had the pleasure of all three of the following leaders of this special organization all in one place - Deb Witzel (center) who transitioned the org to Longmont Community Justice Partnership, Kathleen McGoey (left) who carried the torch and strengthened those relationships, and Shalene Onyango the current ED of BRITE Collaborative. All have, and continue to, champion restorative justice as a framework to move through life. Thank you to all the incredible leaders over the last 32 years!
