Gears 9th Annual Christmas Bash!!

The time has arrived for our end of the year bash where we look back on all we've accomplished over the past twelve months. As we reflect we’ll take time to give out our awards including the coveted Gear of the Year!

We have all kinds of fun planned including ugly sweater contests, white elephant gift exchange, social bingo, and of course the infamous horse races! Come join us at the private bar upstairs in The World Famous Dark Horse on Saturday December 14th at 9:00PM!

White Elephant Gift Exchange @ 10:00PM-ish
Ah the ol' white elephant gift exchange, a long standing Gears tradition. In order to participate please bring a gift not to exceed $25. We have one rule, one: If you receive a gift meant to be worn, you shall wear it! Other than that, there are really no rules here. You can wrap one used shoe if your heart desires however, keep in mind karma has been a very willing participant in years past.
Which will yours be, Gag? Or Gift?

Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest @ 11:00PM-ish
Pretty straight forward, wear the ugliest festive sweater you can find. Bonus points if your sweater is in the holiday theme. Our private bartender will be the judge, followed by Daniel our Chapter President in the case of a tie.

Everyone is welcome! If you've never made it to an event before, now is the time! Come enjoy the season, look back on your own accomplishments, and celebrate what’s to come next year! Cheers!

Making Community Work

Every month we try to get ourselves physically active and outdoors if we can, with our Gears Get Out! This month we're hiking up to the Flastaff Star! Have you ever seen Boulder from 7,000ft at night, now's your chance! With great views of holiday lights this moderate hike is good for the whole family. Bring the kids, the pets, and your flashlights!

It's not too late to sign up for the Vitalant blood drive! We have several slots still available on Monday, November 25 from 10-2. And as an added bonus, anyone who donates will automatically be entered for a three-night stay for two, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, courtesy of Vitalant! Hope to see you there!

Thank you Kristin for heading up our first volunteer event at the Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR)!! The day started with warm coffee in hand (gratefully provided by the CHR) and a tour of the grounds. We got our picture taken with Mr. Tumnus, who was by far the most photogenic of us all, and hit the office to do some bookkeeping. We sorted though many documents and Polaroids from the 1990's (who knew people were so stylish back then), and enjoyed some early morning banter. CHR has invited us back next year to volunteer again.

Harvest of Hope Food Pantry
Friday September 6th - 9:00AM-11:00AM

We've started a new relationship with Harvest of Hope Food Pantry in Boulder. We'll be scheduling days to help with a variety of special projects at the pantry including repackaging donated hygiene products, pantry cleaning, stocking and sorting donations and more. If you're interested in starting your weekend off with some community service we invite you to come out to the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry with us Friday morning.

Reminder - Gears Tubing Day!

Join Gears as we tube down the newly opened section of the St. Vrain Creek in Longmont! The section runs from Main St. to Martin St. We will be meeting in the parking lot East of Cato at 180 Ken Pratt Blvd, Longmont on August 10th at 10:30 am and walking to the beginning of the tubing section. Bring your tube, bathing suit, sunscreen, water shoes, and a towel. It would probably be a good idea to bring some water to drink as well. Look forward to seeing you out there! Breeze Thru Car Wash Fundraiser Reminder!

Volunteers needed!!
Come support Gears Community at our 1st Annual Breeze Thru Car Wash Fundraiser. It will be held on Sunday, August 11th. Breeze Thru Car Wash will donate a $1 for every car washed between the hours of 10am and 2pm. We are still in need volunteers to hold signs during this time to show our community the great work we do! Even if you can not come the full time anything helps! If you are unable to come in person, please support by spreading the word to family and friends. Our Gears Community and your car will thank you!!

Breeze Thru Car Wash donates $1 for every car washed between 10am and 2pm and we need your help!!
