They say that sometimes the smallest hearts carry the most weight. We recently received a call from a client whose beloved Bearded Dragon had become lethargic and stopped eating. For most pet parents, this is a stressful situation - but for this client, the stakes were incredibly high.
Currently unhoused, they found themselves in a position no pet owner wants to be in: needing urgent medical care for a family member but lacking the funds to cover a vet visit.
Thanks to our partnership with Longmont Small Animal Hospital , we were able to arrange an exam. The diagnosis? A parasitic infection. After receiving the proper treatment, we are thrilled to report that this little guy is back home, eating like a champ, and acting like his spunky self again.
While we are happy the dragon is healthy, the true heart of this story lies in what he means to his human. Upon his recovery, they shared words that reminded us all why this work is so vital:
Every life matters. Whether it has fur, feathers, or scales, the bond between a person and their pet is a lifeline - especially during our hardest chapters.
We are so grateful to our donors and the team at Longmont Small Animal Hospital for helping us keep this duo together. Because when we save a pet, we are often helping save a person, too.
