I’ve been involved with Young Life since 7th grade, and it has been one of the most impactful parts of my life. Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to attend not just one, but three amazing camps. Each experience was unique and life-changing.
The first camp was a mission trip to Costa Rica, where I had the chance to serve others, experience a new culture, and grow in my faith. It was eye-opening to see how people live in different parts of the world and to be part of something bigger than myself. The second camp was at Washington Family Ranch, where I got to bring my middle schoolers and watch them experience the same kind of joy and community that Young Life has given me over the years. Lastly, I spent time on Work Crew at Malibu in Canada, serving behind the scenes and learning what it means to be a servant leader.
Now, you might be wondering, How did I afford all of this? The answer is simple..FUNDRAISING!! I was able to raise $2,233, which made it possible for me to go to camp. The biggest fundraising opportunities that helped me reach my goal was the Wingathon. It’s such an easy and fun way to raise money, and it made all the difference in making these trips a reality for me. I reached out to family, friends, and teachers, and my mom even helped by sharing my fundraiser on Facebook. Every little bit added up, and before I knew it, I had enough to cover almost the complete cost of all the camps.
One of the best things about Young Life is that money is never a barrier. If you have the desire to go to camp, Young Life will provide you with the opportunities to fundraise and make it happen. There are always ways to make camp affordable, and trust me—it’s worth every effort.
If you’ve ever thought about going to Young Life camp but worried about the cost, don’t let that stop you. Fundraising works, and there are people who want to help you get there. It truly is the best summer of your life, and I wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything. 🐔🔥

Last year, God blessed me with the opportunity to go on a missions trip to Costa Rica with Younglife!

I've been going to Younglife for the past 4 to 5 years now and this youth group has taught me so much about God's love and fellowship. So much so I've become a student leader and lead other fellow high schoolers! Although trips like these are not cheap... Lucky for all of us Younglife holds a fundraiser that makes these trips possible! It is called WING-A-THON!! I implore everyone interested in going to any camp to take advantage of this fundraiser. Younglife gets a donation from Wing shack and we are given hundreds of wings. All you have to do is talk to family, friends, teachers, etc to give you a pledge of money per wing you eat and or you can just ask for a flat donation of whatever they can afford! What a pledge is, it is a person who agrees to give you a certain amount of money per wing you eat and all you have to do when the time comes is to stuff your face!

Younglife has a motto for camps, and it's as simple as this "Money will NEVER be an issue!". A lot of you are I bet a lot like me. I'm very busy with school and can't afford much. Wing-a-thon is such a blessing given to us by Younglife. For my missions trip last year I was able to raise 90% of my entire trip through wing-a-thon! Camp will truly be one of the best weeks of your life and you get to meet some of the most amazing people. The opportunity I have this year is very special for me personally! Sixty years ago my grandma went to the same Malibu camp I am going to, and I get to go see the place where my grandma gave her life to Jesus! 🔥
