Thank you to everyone who contributed to the GoFundMe that was set up to support this project. It’s just been announced that Orascom and the Ministery of Tourism and Antiquies has shown their commitment by granting financial support going forward. This is a huge win for horse welfare in Egypt and could not have been accomplished without the passion of a few very special people!

This is how going on a riding holiday makes a difference! We’re so happy to see this - for the first time in 28 years the horses, camels and donkeys around the Giza Pyramids in Egypt have access to fresh drinking water

Good Karma Sanctuary and our friends and partners at Ride Egypt - Equestrian Adventures have installed the first 2 water bowls, with 6 more ready to be installed in different areas. The goal is to have 40 of these installed in the next few months which is a momentous task, but will be life-changing

We’ll be making a donation for one of these water bowls on behalf of the

We often get asked about horse care in Egypt, and the Ride Egypt horses are incredibly well cared for, but sadly not all the working horses are so fortunate. However, your presence helps encourage the education of local Egyptians on how to care for their animals. The more they can see tourists only wanting to interact with healthy horses, the more they want to learn to replicate this. Change happens one guest at a time, and you can be part of it!

Well done to Emma, Tegan and your amazing teams - your committment to the horses in Egypt is phenomenal!

is proud to support the Borana Education Support Programme - Borana Lodge invests in educational infrastructure and scholarships, nurturing future conservationists from the community. From funding conservation management to providing essential healthcare services through mobile clinics, every guest at Borana Lodge becomes a guardian of Africa’s wildlife and communities. This support also extends to the education programme which employs 11 teachers, funds 59 bursaries and supports the infrastructure development of 10 primary and secondary schools.

As is still all too common in many of these communities, the majority of locals do not have adequate access to basic health care, with some people ( including the elderly, pregnant woman and children) having to travel extremely long distances to receive any form of simple medical care or sanitation. The Borana Mobile Clinic has been providing basic health care, health lectures, HIV Aids awareness, antenatal advice, child immunization programmes and family planning to Borana’s neighbouring communities. Borana Conservancy also provides fresh water at each of our gatehouses for collection from community members.

Each and every donation no matter the amount works to directly help conservation and community development in this incredible environment 🌿
