Longmeadow 12U All-Stars Bounce Back With Win Over Algonquin

After suffering their first loss of the postseason to District 4 champion Worcester, the Longmeadow 12U All-Stars responded Friday with a 7-4 victory over District 5 champion Algonquin at Turner Park to improve to 3-1 in the Massachusetts Sectional Tournament.

Longmeadow struck first in the opening inning before breaking the game open in the third. Maggie D delivered an RBI single, while Maddie F and Audrey M each drove in a run as the All-Stars regained the lead with a three-run inning.

Maggie D earned the win in the circle, allowing just one run on three hits over 4â…“ innings while striking out four. Maddie F came on in relief to help secure the victory.

The offense received contributions throughout the lineup, with Abby F, Emily S, Viv M, Maddie F, Maggie D and Audrey M each driving in a run. Viv M led Longmeadow with two hits, while Emily S stole two bases to help ignite the offense.

Longmeadow was once again outstanding defensively, turning a double play and playing error-free softball. Viv M anchored the defense with a team-high 12 putouts.

The victory improves Longmeadow to 3-1 in Sectional play following wins over District 2 champion Hadley-Amherst, District 11 champion Canton and District 5 champion Algonquin, with its lone loss coming against District 4 champion Worcester.

The 12U All-Stars will close out pool play against District 16 champion Peabody on Saturday, with a berth in the Massachusetts 12U State Tournament on the line.

Longmeadow 12U All-Stars Roll Past Canton, Advance at Sectionals

The Longmeadow 12U All-Stars continued their postseason run in impressive fashion Wednesday, defeating District 11 champion Canton 12-1 in four innings at Turner Park to advance in the Massachusetts Sectional Tournament.

Longmeadow wasted little time taking control, scoring twice in the opening inning before erupting for five runs in the second to build a commanding lead. The offense struck again in the fourth, plating five more runs to end the game early.

Emily S paced the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, including two doubles and a single while driving in two runs. Abby F also delivered a big day at the plate, tripling and finishing with two RBIs, while Viv M added two RBIs with a key fourth-inning single. Maggie D collected two hits and helped spark the offense from the top of the lineup.

Maggie D also shined in the circle, allowing just one run on two hits over four innings while striking out six to earn the victory.

Longmeadow’s defense was equally sharp, playing error-free softball behind its pitching staff. Emily S handled a team-high seven defensive chances as the All-Stars completed another clean performance in the field.

With the win, Longmeadow moves one step closer to a berth in the Massachusetts 12U State Tournament as its impressive postseason run continues.

Longmeadow Opens State Sectionals With Convincing 11-5 Victory Over Rockland

Fresh off capturing the program’s first-ever Massachusetts District 2 12U Championship, Longmeadow wasted little time carrying that momentum into Sectionals.

The 12U All-Stars opened the Massachusetts Sectional Tournament on Sunday with an impressive 11-5 victory over District 8 champion Rockland at Phelps Elementary School, taking the first step toward a berth in the Massachusetts State Championship.

Longmeadow jumped on Rockland immediately, plating four runs in the opening inning. Viv M started the rally with an RBI single before Abby F ripped a two-run triple. An additional run scored on a Rockland error to give Longmeadow an early cushion.

The offense struck again in the third inning, erupting for five more runs. Abby F delivered another RBI hit, Audrey M added an RBI single, Fiona S drove home a run with a double, and two more runs crossed the plate on a Rockland miscue as Longmeadow stretched the lead to 9-0.

Maggie D was dominant in the circle, pitching a complete game while striking out 11 batters over six innings. She allowed just four hits and five runs—only two of them earned—and also contributed on the bases with two stolen bases.

Longmeadow’s lineup pounded out 11 hits in the victory. Viv M led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, while Abby F drove in three runs and finished 2-for-3 at the plate. The defense also turned a key double play to help keep Rockland from mounting a comeback.

With the opening-round win, Longmeadow improves to 1-0 in Sectional play and now turns its attention to a critical stretch of games at Turner Park.

The All-Stars are scheduled to host District 5 champion Algonquin on Monday at 6 p.m. before welcoming District 11 champion Canton on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Both games, however, could be impacted by a rainy forecast. Longmeadow will then travel to face District 4 champion Worcester on Thursday before closing pool play against District 16 champion Peabody on Saturday. The top teams will advance to Sunday’s championship round with a trip to the Massachusetts State Tournament on the line.

After making history by bringing home the program’s first 12U District championship, Longmeadow has now positioned itself for another postseason run, one win at a time.

History was made Tuesday night as Longmeadow's 12U All-Stars claimed the program's first Massachusetts D-2 12U Championship with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Hadley-Amherst.

The championship continues an impressive run of success for Longmeadow Little League Softball. The program captured the 2023 Massachusetts 10U State Championship, won three consecutive District 2 10U titles from 2021-23, and most recently claimed the 2026 MA-D2 14U Championship. Now, the 12U team has added its own chapter to that history and will advance to the Sectional Tournament with a chance to earn a berth in the Massachusetts State Championship.

Longmeadow struck first in the opening inning when Maggie D delivered a clutch RBI single to give her team an early 1-0 lead. Hadley-Amherst answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring twice to take a 2-1 advantage.

The game remained tight until Longmeadow broke through in the fourth inning. Emily S ignited the rally with an RBI triple before Viv M followed with an RBI single to tie the game. Moments later, Eloise B lined a two-run single to cap the four-run inning and give Longmeadow a 5-2 lead.

Hadley-Amherst battled back late, but Longmeadow's pitching and defense held firm to secure the championship.

With the district championship secured, Longmeadow now turns its attention to the Sectional Tournament, where the All-Stars will compete for the opportunity to advance to the Massachusetts 12U State Championship.
