The Behind the Scenes Tour of the WBTT was a remarkable success, featuring an enjoyable morning exploration of the theater's lesser-known areas. Debra Flynt-Garrett, Development Director, shared captivating stories about the theater's history and performances. We are thankful for the presence of this exceptional theater in Sarasota and pledge to continue supporting their mission. The morning ended with a rooftop view of Sarasota, followed by lunch at Arts and Central.

Lucia Celebration - Looking for participants in the Lucia pageant.

The Swedish-American Club of Sarasota together with Johanna Gustafsson and Therese Holmberg is organizing the Lucia Celebration at The Lutheran Church, St Armand’s Circle, Sarasota on Sunday, December 14th.
We are looking for children that would like to participate in the Lucia pageant.
If you have a child who would like to participate, please text Johanna Gustafsson at 941 504 2066 asap. Practices will begin already on November 2nd. Please include the name of your child in the text to Johanna.

Join us for a special guided tour of the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe (WCTT) — a rare chance to explore its mission, history, and creative spaces, ending with an inspiring meet-and-greet with Founder & Artistic Director Nate Jacobs.

Summer Greetings!

As we head into the summer months, we wanted to share a warm update from your SACS Board. At our final meeting of the season on April 15th, we reflected on a vibrant year behind us and looked ahead with enthusiasm. A key focus was expanding our membership and spreading the word about the amazing community we have right here in Sarasota.

We’re already planning an exciting slate of events for the fall, and we encourage you to mark your calendars for these upcoming highlights:

Welcome Back Crayfish Party – Friday, October 17th at the Compose Hotel
SACS Golf Championship – Wednesday, November 19th at Heritage Oaks
St. Lucia Celebration – Sunday, December 7th at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church

We’re also cooking up additional events for the coming year and always welcome your ideas and suggestions—this is your club, and we value your voice!

The Swedish American Club Sarasota is a vibrant and welcoming community dedicated to preserving and celebrating Swedish heritage and culture in the Sarasota area. We are reaching out to you because we believe your experience, enthusiasm, and skills would make a valuable contribution to our Board of Directors.

As a member of our board, you would play a vital role in:

• Planning and organizing events – from cherished traditions like Lucia and Midsummer to social gatherings and cultural programs that bring our heritage to life.
• Building community – fostering meaningful connections among members who share a love of Swedish culture.
• Promoting Swedish heritage – engaging the wider Sarasota community with the rich traditions, history, and contributions of Sweden.
• Ensuring the club’s future – overseeing operations, finances, and strategic planning to sustain and grow our mission.
