While we love our fleet of Kevlar boats it's nice to remember the other side of that coin now and again! Paddlers from all over the U.S. and Canada have amassed at the Paul Smith's College for the annual gathering of the Wooden Heritage Canoe Association. Many of these boats surpass the 100 year mark....check out the amazing canoes on display through Saturday at the college!

A crew of 20, Scouts and Scouters from Troop 355 ~ Newton MA, journeyed from Sabattis Adventure Camp to Sabattis Scout Reservation and on to Massawepie Scout Camps. At each camp they had a unique adventure to further their outdoor skills and create their own experiences. What a truly remarkable trek!

This week we are proud to share a series of firsts for SAC Treks!

Several trek crews took full advantage of our first ever training pavilion, a donation from the Fromtling family out of NJ!

Shown here is David Bailey, a long time friend and Voyageur extraordinaire from the Hawk Mtn. Council BSA, (a first time that we’ve had David on our team of Voyageurs) demonstrating to Troop 193 from Massachusetts the two pulley method of hanging a bear bag. Another first, as we’ve never had open trusses to work with before!!

What a great week 1 for our program!
