The County Cork B.P. & P. Association will assemble at Weigand Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Avenue. Williston Park, NY 11596 at 5.30PM on Sunday for the wake service.
The Officers and Members of the County Cork B.P. & P. Association mourn the loss and honor the memory of Denis P. “Dinny” O’Sullivan, whose dedication to his heritage and community enriched all who knew him.
Denis, of Williston Park, New York, originally from Ahilmore, Kealkill, Bantry, County Cork, Ireland, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty, née Nolan), a devoted father to Chrisdina Peters and her husband Michael, and a proud and loving grandfather to Michael and James Peters.
Denis was the second youngest of ten children of the late Cornelius and Nora O’Sullivan. He carried his Irish heritage with deep pride throughout his life and remained closely connected to his roots and family in Ireland.
Denis was a dedicated and active member of his community. He was a longtime member of the Mineola Irish American Center, where he served on the Board of Directors and as First Vice President. A proud member of the County Cork B.P. & P. Association since 2003, Denis was honored in 2014 as the recipient of the Frank T. Carvill Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his commitment and service.
Since 1980, Denis has been an active member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, devoting himself to preserving and promoting Irish culture, particularly traditional Irish set dancing. In recognition of more than 30 years of dedication, he was awarded the World Medallion at the North American Convention in Washington, D.C.
A man of deep faith, Denis served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Aidan’s R.C. Church in Williston Park and provided pastoral care at St. Francis Hospital in Port Washington for many years. He was also a dedicated employee of Beardslee Transmission Equipment in Mineola, where he worked in the sales and service department.
Denis will be remembered as a warm, generous, and kind-hearted man, always giving of his time and spirit. He had a gift for making others feel welcome, whether through conversation, laughter, or a turn on the dance floor. His love of Irish music and dancing was infectious, bringing joy to countless gatherings both in the United States and in Ireland.
He never forgot his roots and cherished every visit home, always making time to reconnect with family and friends. His presence, whether at a celebration or a simple visit, made every moment more meaningful.
Denis leaves behind a legacy of love, community, culture, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and fondly remembered through the laughter, music, and memories he shared.
The Officers and Members extend their heartfelt sympathies to Denis’ daughter Chrisdina, her husband Michael, and his grandsons Michael and James during this difficult time. May it bring comfort to know that Denis is now reunited with his beloved wife, Betty.
