🌍 Celebrating culture, creativity, and community! 🎭 ⁠
The P.S. 199Q Afterschool Program held its End-of-Year Showcase to close out the 2025–2026 school year, and it was a truly memorable evening! Our students dedicated themselves to learning and performing dances that highlighted the beauty of multiculturalism, a theme at the heart of our final unit this year. Watching them perform for their families was a proud and moving moment for our entire program. A heartfelt thank you to our students for their hard work, to our families for their endless support, and to our staff who made this evening so special. What a wonderful way to end the year! 💛✨⁠

🌸 Moms, we see you and we celebrate you! P.S. 199Q's Afterschool Program hosted their annual Invite Your Mom to Afterschool Day and the energy was unmatched! 🎱 B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was its name-o! 🎉 Afterschool families from P.S. 199Q came out for an epic night of BINGO and it did not disappoint! Students and their families played hard, cheered loud, and had an absolute blast competing for some amazing prizes!⁠

📖 New books, new adventures! The Afterschool Program at P.S. 199Q celebrated its very first book swap! Families donated and swapped books for their little learners, and the wonderful Book Fairies pitched in with donations for all ages. So proud of our community coming together for literacy! 🌟

Our Gardening Club students at P.S. 199 Afterschool have been busy making our community bloom! 🌸🌿⁠

A few weeks ago, they planted beautiful flowers right in front of our school, and last week, they teamed up with older adults at our main center to add even more greenery, including flowers and grasses, to brighten the space.⁠
⁠
It was such a special experience for our students to learn hands-on planting skills while connecting with another generation. 💚 They asked questions, got their hands dirty, and shared plenty of smiles along the way.⁠

And of course… the day ended with some well-earned ice cream! 🍦⁠

Today, we celebrate the heart of our afterschool programs, our incredible Afterschool Professionals 💛

A special thank you to our afterschool staff who show up each day with energy, patience, and care for our participants. You create safe, welcoming spaces where young people can learn, grow, and just be themselves. From helping with homework to leading activities, building relationships, and making every moment count, you truly make a difference!

Your impact goes far beyond the program hours. You are mentors, role models, and a steady source of support for our youth and families.

We are so grateful for all that you do. Thank you for being such an important part of our community!
