Long Beach Modern Quilt Guild The Long Beach Modern Quilt Guild is dedicated to providing programming centered on modern quilting in the greater Long Beach community.

Discovery your creative community with LBMQG We are welcoming group comprised of people at all skill levels with a sincere appreciation for any quilter creating from where they are—whether they are new to quilting or master artists. Founded in 2015, LBMQG aims to inspire, educate, and develop friendships while striving to bridge the needs of our community through quilting. LBMQG is based in Southern California and is part of the Modern Quilt Guild community.

We’re excited to be among the makers at Maker Faire OC!

Curious about quilting or want to learn more about modern quilting? Come see the Long Beach Modern Quilt Guild in action as we demonstrate modern quilting and share what we love about this creative, contemporary approach to quilting.

Maker Faire brings together makers, artists, crafters, inventors, and creative communities from all kinds of disciplines. We’re excited to be part of this celebration of creativity and to introduce more people to modern quilting and the LBMQG community.

Whether you’re new to quilting or simply curious, come stop by and learn more about us!

Join us tonight for our monthly meeting at the Long Beach Bridge Center, 4782 E Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, 90804 (behind Big 5 and upstairs). Join us for the Bowers Quilt Fair on Sunday, August 16 at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana!

The Quilt Fair is being held in conjunction with The American Quilt: Cloth and Commerce, a special exhibition at Bowers Museum running through August 30. Come spend the day celebrating quilting with vendors, guilds, speakers, demonstrations, activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow quilters.

LBMQG will be there representing modern quilting along with many area sisters guilds, and we’d love to see you!

Bring a project - tables, chairs, and electricity are provided and there is an elevator and a lot of space to spread out.

All are welcome to join us - members and nonmembers alike. This is a free event.

The Jelly Roll Race Championships are set for Saturday, May 30 at the LA County Fair!

After exciting qualifying heats filled with fast sewing, teamwork, and plenty of fun, our final matchups are ready:

12:00 PM — Consolation Round
Quilters by the Sea vs. East LA Stitchers – Team Churn Dash

2:00 PM — Championship Round
South Bay Quilters Guild vs. Inland Empire MQG

Come cheer on these amazing teams as they race for bragging rights and Jelly Roll Race glory at the fairgrounds!

Paint your own barn quilt in a fun, one-day workshop—no experience needed, and open to everyone.

Join LBMQG & Bohemian Folk Barn Quilts on May 25 or May 26 (10:30 AM – 4:30 PM) at Sports Basement – Long Beach. You’ll work on a prepped aluminum composite board (perfect for outdoor display), choose from a variety of designs or bring your own, and explore 75+ paint colors to make it uniquely yours.

Multiple size options are available, all supplies are included, and lunch is provided—just show up ready to create.

Join us today for Jelly Roll Races at the LA County Fair in the Home Arts Building 5. There will be two exciting races today including a Modern Quilt Guild showdown between LBMQG and IEMQG at 2 pm! 🎉

Winners of today’s races will face off against either the East LA Stitchers – Team Churn Dash or the South Bay Quilters Guild in May 30th. The top time so far? A potential recording 27 minutes and 26 seconds by SBQA! 🤩

Here are today’s matchups:
12:00 PM — Quilters by the Sea vs. African American Quilters of LA
2:00 PM — Long Beach MQG vs. Inland Empire MQG

The competition continues, and the energy is high. Come cheer on the teams and enjoy the excitement at the fair!

Exciting results from the Jelly Roll Races at the LA County Fair!

Congratulations to East LA Stitchers – Team Churn Dash for winning their heat with an impressive time of 45 minutes and 22 seconds.

A big congratulations as well to South Bay Quilters Guild, who secured their win in an outstanding 27 minutes and 26 seconds!

What a fun day of friendly competition, creativity, and community. Photos are coming soon—stay tuned!

Next up: Saturday, May 16 — more qualifying heats as teams race for a spot in the final round on May 30:
