Our Story

ENCOMPASS World Partners JAPANESE Ministries of Greater L.A. was started in 2001 by Cecil & Debbie O’Dell who were church planting missionaries in Tokyo, Japan for 17 years. In 1998 we became aware that almost 1,600 Japanese were returning to Japan as new believers after studying or working in the U.S. and other countries. Our ministry in mostly focused on the campuses and companies located in or near Long Beach, CA. We have had the privilege of introducing hundreds to Jesus and we have seen many return as new believers in Christ. Some have started new ministries in Japan or have connected with ministries where they can grow and share Jesus with family and friends. Japan is still the second largest least reached people group in our world today with less than 0.3% believing in Jesus as God and Savior.
