The mission of the USITT Lighting Commission is to serve the lighting profession by providing a forum for dialogue and information relating to excellence in lighting design, associated research and development, and lighting design education.

Two exciting events coming next week!! First, on October 6 we have our Quarterly Commission Meeting where we’ll discuss what’s happening in the Lighting Design & Technology Commission, including special projects and ways you can be involved! Then, our very own davidosmith will be hosting a Soldering Webinar! If you’ve been to our Soldering Lab at USITT, you’ve seen David’s genius in action, and we’re excited to have him share his knowledge virtually! The sign up form to write a submission for Volume 3 of the USITT Practical Projects for Teaching Lighting Design: A Compendium is live! Check it out here: https://forms.gle/8r3WMLrsB5HnLurq9

On the form you will find a description of the project, a link to Volume 2 for reference, and our timeline going into USITT 2027! Our goal for this form is to diversify the submissions we receive and help get ideas flowing!

There is a soft deadline to fill out the form by Sept 14th, but if you miss that deadline, don’t worry! We would still love more submissions, and we have plans to schedule more review sessions in 2027.
