National Adult Spelling Bee

FROM SEVEN STATES: Spellers and spectators wanted for two national spelling bees (one for kids, one for adults) in Long Beach on Sunday, March 10.
(So far, registrants hail from seven states and D.C.)

Sunday, March 10 at Bay Shore Church fellowship hall, 5100 E. The Toledo, Long Beach, 90803.

- 2 p.m.: National Kids Spelling Bee (22nd annual)
This bee is for students in North America currently enrolled in grades 3-5. The winner will receive $1,000. The Bee welcomes students from public, private and parochial schools, as well as home-schooled students. The 2024 applicant coming farthest, so far, is from Texas. MORE: www.JustinRudd.com/bee

- 4:30 p.m.: National Adult Spelling Bee (18th annual)
The Bee is for any adult, at least 14 years old, who is a resident or student in North America. The winner will receive $500 and his/her favorite nonprofit organization, school, or place of worship will receive $500. The 2023 winner was Lindsey Kiser, San Carlos, Calif. She correctly spelled omakase and cheroot in the two final rounds to win. So far, entrants for the 2024 bee include spellers from Michigan, Florida, Washington DC, Texas, Georgia, New Jersey, Indiana and California. MORE: www.JustinRudd.com/adultbee

ENTRY FEE
• $10 if received on or before March 5
• $20 if received before event day
• $30 if received on event day.

SPECTATE
• $5 cash/per spectator, at the door
