If you have heard about our Child Abuse Response Team (CART) then you know how incredibly important this role is. Most of the time, it's a few hours playing or reading with a child. If you have a heart for children, this may be the most meaningful way you can serve the local community. Learn more by reaching out to Jenny Magaña, then sign-up for an extraordinary training. Make a child feel safe again. This is the 30th anniversary for the CART!

Provide a safe and healthy safe place in your home for your children. Let them know they have adults to love and support them and who 100% believe them. Trust your children when they talk to you. They need you to have their back--be on your child's side always!

05/29/2026

Parenting is hard in a different way from any other jobs. You put pressure on yourself and never feel like you're doing it right. Find someone to talk to. A trusted friend, other parents, your parents, your older neighbors, or a therapist. It' s important to have a support.

If things with your children escalate, remember to stay in the role of the "adult in control." Keep your cool, listen, suggest solutions, and help your child to de-escalate.

Take care of yourself so you can remain the calm one they trust.

When stress multiples, things get tough--for children and adults. The end of the school year can be especially intense. If you have a child overcoming something big in their lives, the stress and pressure may trigger a setback. Emotions are likely to flare and might catch you off guard. Be patient, listen, and call us if they need help.

Keep them safe with stability. By offering guidance with a model to dollow and structure, you keep them safe from considering harming themselves or others. Keep communication open and pay attention to your children's moods so you know if they need more help than you can give.

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

05/24/2026

Be patient with your children, especially teens. Their emotions can be jumbled together. It will take some time for them ti figure them out, and how to articulate those feelings is yet another step that can take some time. Be there to listen when they are willing to talk. Don't hesitate to get them help if they need it.

05/21/2026

Do a mental health check-in with the children around you. You don't have to be a therapist, and you don't have to be their parent. You just need to be there!

Ask these simple questions. Listen. Then act appropriately. If the child is in distress or clearly traumatized, call and get them help. No one is turned away due to insurance status or ability to pay.

05/15/2026

Show your children that they can trust you with everything that is happening in their lives. Show them you love them and commit to protecting them and taking care of them. These protective factors will create an environment that cultivates healthy emotions.
