We believe that meaningful care begins with connection.

On Thursday, April 30, the CSULB Nursing Students are sharing their work with our WholeHeART Whole Health initiative, a project centered on supporting social connection and access to care in our community.

The morning will include a student presentation open to all, followed by a relaxed space to connect, ask questions, and learn more about their work.

This is not a formal event. It is an opportunity to be together, to listen, and to build relationships that matter.

🕥 10:30 AM - Student Presentation
🕛 12:00 PM - Meet & Connect (for staff and case managers)
📍 CityHeART backyard

You are always welcome here.

Free Lunch Friday starts early with Made from the HeART Mondays. We prep with intention, using fresh and rescued ingredients to create something meaningful. It’s powerful to see meals come together piece by piece. 🧡

Have a day to spare? We are seeking volunteers who can give 2 hours every Monday for 12 weeks to help us get through summer with continuity as our student helpers transition out for the break!

12 weeks x 2 hours = 24 hours total : just one day!

Care at the CityHeART Resource Hub isn't about checking boxes; it’s about presence. This week, amidst the bustle of our grocery market, we invited neighbors into a quiet but powerful process: the Word of the Day visual poem.

Guests chose a single word that resonated with them, turned it into an acrostic, and surrounded it with images and colors that reflected their experience. It’s a way of making internal stories visible, of taking a feeling and turning it into something we can all see and honor together.

This process is a core part of how we practice relationship-based care. Community care is not a transaction; it grows when people are seen and known. Whether we’re sharing a cup of coffee, a grocery bag, or a piece of art, we are building a space where everyone belongs.

If you’ve been looking for a way to show up for your neighbors, we’re currently onboarding new volunteers to help sustain the flow of the Hub. This is a meaningful time to step in as our student volunteers transition for the summer.

Drop by the CityHeART Resource Hub Mon- Fri 10 AM-2 PM, or visit our website to learn more about getting involved.

Hope takes shape in quiet ways. Sometimes it looks like color on a page, a steady hand, or a moment where something heavy feels a little lighter. At CityHeART, we see it every day. 🎨💙

The Hub was humming with connection this week. It wasn’t just about the services provided; it was about the relationships built in the space.

We welcomed 99 guests through our doors this week, including 47 neighbors who joined us on Thursday for our HeARTy Foods Grocery Market and 36 guests who shared a meal with us on Free Lunch Friday.

The atmosphere was vibrant: filled with music, coffee, and neighbors catching up while picking up fresh essentials.

Beyond the numbers, we saw the "heART" of our mission in action through our Word of the Day process. Volunteers mark their transition in and out of their time with us by sharing a one-word reflection. This week, our guests were invited to do the same and to create acrostic poems and visual art, turning their internal stories into shared expressions of resilience.

Thank you to our partners, volunteers, student helpers, donors, and sponsors who literally keep this HeART beating every week.

Everything is a process ... even our Free Lunch Friday meals. We start prepping each meal a full week ahead, prioritizing ingredients that remain from our weekly HeARTy Foods grocery market. ❤️ Everything comes together, little-by-little, over the course of a week.

This week, we made a total of 51 meals.

At CityHeART, we believe that true support starts with a seat at the table. When you walk into the Hub, you’re not just another person looking for a service, you’re a neighbor.

We’ve seen firsthand that while a meal or a resource can meet an immediate need, it’s the connection that truly helps someone heal. Whether it’s sharing a story over coffee or navigating a new resource together, our focus is always on building a community where everyone feels they truly belong.

Care isn’t just about what we do; it’s about how we show up for each other every single day.

Stop by and see us at the Hub to learn more about our programs. We’re here to walk alongside you. 🧡 Tune into Voices from The Hub this morning at 10am with Noelle for her last morning hosting this segment and a look into how we show up wholeheARTedly.
