At 6:00 pm this evening, the Long Beach Fire Department received a report of an unknown type fire at Laurelton Blvd. and W. Broadway, upon arrival of Chief Ray, smoke and flames were visible coming from 315 W. Broadway, which is vacant and under construction. Chief Ray immediately transmitted a Working Fire and quickly transmitted the 2nd Alarm.
Career Engine 2343 was first due and stretched the first hose line into the building, Volunteer Engine 2344 was 2nd due shortly after and stretched another hose line into the building.
Ladder 2 members responded on Heavy Rescue 232 and were on scene within minutes and was 1st due truck company. Ladder 2 members conducted a search of the building and checked for any fire extension and operated with other fire companies with overhaul and ventilation.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes and there were no injuries to any firefighters or civilians.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office, the Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad and the Long Beach Police Department.
Long Beach units at scene, Career Ambulance 2319 Volunteer ambulances 2321 and 2322, Career Engine 2343 Volunteer Engines 2344 and 2342, Volunteer Ladders 2372,& Heavy Rescue 232(acting 2362) and Volunteer Command Post 234.
We were assisted at the scene by Volunteer units from the Island Park Fire Department, Oceanside NY Fire Department , Inwood Fire Department , Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department , Baldwin Fire Department , and the Point Lookout Lido FD. as well as an Ambulance from Mt. Mount Sinai South Nassau .
Volunteer units from the Hewlett Fire Department, Woodmere Vol. Fire Department East Rockaway Fire Department , Rockville Centre Fire Department, Valley Stream Fire Department and Atlantic Beach Rescue all stood by for any other alarms with in the City.
All Fire Department Operations were under the Command of Chief Hadrick Ray and Assistant Chiefs Marino Babich and Reinhard.
