History Hidden in Every Stitch 🧵✨

Join the opening lecture, “Reading the Material Evidence in American Quilts,” with curator Tara Miller on May 23, 1:30-3:00 PM. Using works from “The American Quilt” exhibition, it reveals social and commercial forces woven into quiltmaking, from Revolutionary boycotts and global cotton trade to industrial dyes, and the 1970s Great Quilt Revival. Each quilt offers a glimpse into history, showing how fabric tells stories of industry, labor, creativity, and community across generations.

What story could a quilt tell if it could speak? 🪡

Visit bowers.org/programs to get tickets.
