📣 Mark your calendars! Long Beach Gives is tomorrow, Thursday, September 24!

Operation Jump Start is proud to participate in Long Beach Gives, a community-wide online fundraising campaign that brings people together to support local nonprofits and the work they do across Long Beach.

For more than 30 years, OJS has provided comprehensive resources, academic support, and mentoring to help first-generation, low-resourced students get in, stay in, and graduate from a four-year college.

We could not do this work without the support of our community. Every donation and every share helps us continue creating opportunities and opening doors for Long Beach youth.

💙 Want to support OJS? You can donate today and get a head start on the giving festivities!

👉 Find our Long Beach Gives page through the link in our bio or visit: https://mtyc.co/5zq0jg

Thank you for believing in our students and investing in their futures. Together, we can continue making a difference for Long Beach youth.

🎳 One step closer to college success! 🎓

The Class of 2028 recently celebrated an important milestone: their final event as OJS College Access students! As juniors, they’ll move into our College Success Program, where they’ll begin the next phase of their journey—from researching colleges and writing applications to navigating financial aid and planning for life after high school. But one thing won’t change: they’ll always have the OJS community in their corner. 📚✨

💙Read our latest blog to learn more about the Class of 2028’s journey, the power of mentorship, and what’s ahead for these incredible students.👉 https://operationjumpstart.org/one-step-closer-to-college-success/

🎒✨ Ready for High School!

As summer comes to an end, our students are getting ready to head back to school and we can hardly believe the new school year is already around the corner!

For some of our students, this time of year marks a BIG transition: moving from middle school to high school. To help our 8th graders prepare for this exciting next chapter, OJS hosted a volunteer-led “How to High School” series during the final two weeks of July.

Throughout the series, students had the opportunity to learn what to expect in high school, explore how to navigate this new environment, and start getting into the mindset of being a high school student. 📚

We’re so proud of our students for showing up, asking questions, and preparing themselves for this next step!

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible volunteer facilitator, Sofía Q., for leading such a thoughtful and engaging series and helping our students feel ready to take on high school! 💙

Here’s to a new school year and all the possibilities ahead! 🎓✨
