The Education Corps Long Beach graduates are a lively, happy crew rejoicing in new life ahead now that they’ve taken full advantage of their second chance to earn a high school diploma! We will miss them, but once you join our enroll at LAEC, you are part of our family for life! (📸 )

On March 26th, 42 students from the TEC Long Beach campus took a field trip to Long Beach City College to learn more about opportunities they have there for taking college classes while in high school and for post-secondary enrollment. Many of these students went on a similar trip to Cerritos College several weeks ago, so now they have a good idea about some of the local community college offerings out there and how to enroll. As you can see, by this big group, the interest is growing!! A big thanks is in order to TEC Long Beach’s English teacher, Ms. Elexiss Green, who also serves as the campus’ point person for college transition, as she organized and led the trip!

These nine amazing students started and finished the program strong, demonstrating dedication, perseverance, and hard work every step of the way.

A big congratulations is in order to our very own, Nancy Cervantes, who was honored last week with the “California Woman of the Year Award.” As a resident of Bell, CA, Nancy was chosen by Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco to represent the 64th Congressional District.

Nancy has worked within our organization for the past 13 years, first at our Watts campus, then at our El Sereno campus, and now serving as the director/principal of our Long Beach campus. Prior to that, she worked for other youth-based nonprofit organizations, so she has devoted many years of service to our communities and young people. As such, this award is well deserved, and we’re lucky to count her as an LAEC fellow staff member.

🎄⚽️ The East LA Gooners are teaming up with Barrio Action Youth & Family Center for a Christmas Toy Drive! We're collecting 𝐮𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝, 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐲𝐬 at our watch parties through December 21 to give back to the East Los Angeles community we’re proud to call home. ❤️✨

As part of our inaugural season, we’re thrilled to kick off this initiative and make an impact beyond the matches. Let’s come together for families in need. 🎁
