Dear Naples Residents,

Due to a magnitude 8.3 earthquake near the coast of central Chile the ports of Los Angeles / Long Beach have been issued a Tsunami Advisory by the National Weather Service. This Advisory means that strong currents or waves may create significant issues for people and vessels on the ocean or Marinas. Expected arrival time in Long Beach is 4:47 a.m.(Thursday morning).

Marine Safety will staff Rescue Boats and units during this period to advise citizens away from beaches and rock jetties. Rescue Boats will be in service to respond to emergencies, and for potential issues in our Marinas due to unpredictable currents. Widespread inundation is not expected and the Advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Any questions please contact me or my office.

Sincerely,
Suzie Price
Councilwoman, 3rd District
