📚 New Resource for Educators!

Supporting multilingual learners starts with building strong systems that recognize their strengths and respond to their needs.

Our new resource, Supporting Multilingual Learners Through MTSS, provides a framework to help schools and districts strengthen their approaches to supporting multilingual learners, with a particular focus on Long-Term English Learners and students at risk of becoming LTELs.

The resource explores how schools can build more comprehensive English Language Development supports across all three tiers of MTSS, creating stronger opportunities for students to thrive academically and linguistically.

California has more than 2.1 million multilingual students—and expanding access to bilingual education is an important part of ensuring these students can thrive.

But California faces a significant challenge: there aren’t enough adequately trained bilingual teachers to meet the need.

Our new fact sheet, co-authored by the California Budget & Policy Center and Californians Together, examines California’s bilingual teacher shortage, including trends in bilingual teacher authorizations, gaps between student enrollment and the bilingual teacher workforce, and recommendations for strengthening bilingual teacher pathways.

What a wonderful week connecting with our coalition partners! ❤️

Our retreat was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate recent wins, reflect on the achievements and progress of the past year, and reconnect around the work ahead.

It’s been a challenging year in many ways, which makes the progress we’ve made together all the more worth celebrating. We left feeling grateful for the community around us, energized by the collaboration, and reminded of how much we can accomplish when we come together.

Many thanks to everyone who participated and brought their ideas, experiences, and energy to the gathering. We’re grateful for this community and all that we’re building together!
