We ask mothers how they’re doing.

Then what?

Many mothers are screened for postpartum depression.
Many never receive care.

When I became a mother, I kept wondering why.

What makes someone feel safe enough to ask for help?

Privacy?
Clear next steps?
Control over their data?
Support that meets them where they are?

We designed Mama Support to answer those questions.

I’m presenting this work at the Visiblize-ing Care Festival at Parsons School of Design.

Introducing Mama Support 💕

An iPhone app that helps mothers privately track postpartum depression symptoms.

The data stays on your phone.
Your story stays yours.
You decide if and when you share it.

Your data. Your story. Your choice.

Some of what I did while earning this master’s degree in psychology:

• Planned a wedding and got married
• Wrote a paper while on my honeymoon
• Moved across the country
• Got an A in Physiological Psychology while I had Hyperemesis
• Took a break and went back with an infant
• Studied from 9pm - 12am after Rhiannon’s bed time
• Bought a house (and moved again)
• My grandpa died
• Started teaching prenatal, postnatal, and pelvic floor yoga again
• Wrote a book
• Was accepted to Parsons School of Design

In honor of World Breastfeeding Week

🤍

Here are some things I learned:

• It’s not a natural instinct. We need to be taught how to breastfeed.
• It was a positive experience for me and Rhiannon overall but not something I miss.
• Supplement with formula if it becomes overwhelming.
• Find a nutritionist before you try an elimination diet.
• Buy the right pillows to support your back.
• The cravings were more intense than pregnancy.
• You have the right to feed your baby no matter how uncomfortable someone else is.
• I was not prepared for the hormonal changes when we stopped at 13 months.
• It took about 2 months for my hormones and mood to return to normal.
• You are not a failure when things don’t go as planned.

Save this post for after your 6 week postpartum checkup!

🌙

Postnatal yoga helps you practice mindfulness in a realistic way and exercise safely when there isn’t a lot of time for you.

🌙

Postnatal yoga focuses on pelvic floor awareness, core stability, and gentle stretches to relieve shoulder and low back tension.

🌙

Postnatal yoga includes baby yoga poses to deepen the connection between you and your baby.

🌙

This class is best for after you are cleared to exercise by a provider until your baby is mobile.

🌙

Please reach out if you have any questions!
