Hey Official - Long Beach Polar Bears it’s time for the annual…
TIPS FOR THE FIRST-TIMERS 🐻❄️💙💫
THINGS YOU SHOULD BRING WITH YOU
• Extra pairs of socks that can easily be put on, preferably wool (most important item)
• Robe
• Towels
• Change of clothing
• Blanket (for changing on, or wrapped around to change out of wet bathing suit)
• Someone else to hold your towel
• Camera – you want proof for your friends afterwards that you did it
WHAT YOU SHOULD WEAR
• Bathing suit under sweatpants & sweatshirt – this makes it easy to get on and off for warmth.
• Shoes that can easily be put on and taken off
• Winter Hat - preferably a LBPB Pom Pom or Fleece hat 😉
TAKING YOUR PLUNGE
• Make sure you are not too far from the water, you can find the staff on the beach
• When you go in, take your time and enjoy the experience knowing that you’re helping grant wishes for children with life changing illnesses
• When returning, have someone waiting with a towel
• First thing (and most important tip) when you get back put your socks on, two pairs are best. Once your feet go, the rest of you will be cold.
• The water temperature will be around 37-40 degrees Fahrenheit; it never changes much more than that at this time of year. So the water may be colder or warmer than the air, depends on the day.
