Meet Able ARTS Work artist 🧵Norberta🧵⁠

Norberta has been working out of our Hawthorne location for many years and is a prolific artist working in many mediums but in the last few years has really been focusing on sewing!⁠
⁠
Her artistic focus has been making dolls and miniature clothing that are inspired by memories from throughout her life. She sources her materials from recycled garments creating exciting textural and color juxtapositions and sews everything together with meticulous precision.⁠

Join Able ARTS Work on Saturday, October 17 from 10 AM - 1 PM for a FREE mask making workshop for youth 6 - 14 years old! Parents and guardians are also welcome. ⁠

Participants will have the opportunity to work on creating a mask that reflects YOU! Our teaching artists will guide participants through special cyanotype and sculptural techniques to create their masks. ⁠

All materials are provided but participants are encouraged to bring personalized materials to collage or attach onto their mask!⁠

Our Hawthorne art center is getting some major upgrades! More space for more creativity has us appreciating all the inspiration that has been on the walls for years from the artist and staff made murals. 🖌️🌈✨⁠

These colorful master pieces have been a testament to creativity and collaboration for a long time and we are so excited to see the new murals that will go up over time in our refreshed space! This past weekend we celebrated I Love Yarn Day! This is a special day for enthusiasts that is dedicated to all things yarn, promoting the joy of knitting, crocheting, and other yarn crafts.⁠

Here at Able ARTS Work, Long Beach artist Nancy can’t get enough of yarn and crocheting! 🧶✨ As self-taught master she loves everything about it from the process and colors to making sculptures and wearable objects both big and small. ⁠

Every year the world celebrates the power of a smile! Smiles spread joy and bring people together and here at Able ARTS Work we have an abundance of smiles to share. We smile because we love art and music, spending time with our friends, and being surrounded by creativity everyday!

Check out this awesome piece of mosaic art our Long Beach artists recently completed! 🌵☀️🎨⁠

Made from recycled aluminum cans and inspired by the beautiful desert landscapes of Joshua Tree this collaboration piece is a wonderful example of team work and how great art can be made from recycled items. ♻️✨⁠

Multiple artists worked on every step of the process from creating the aluminum “tiles”, to sketching, to assembling it with care an precision.⁠
