Kiwanis Long Beach CA The Kiwanis Club of Long Beach, founded in 1919, has always maintained a strong and respected leadership with the city.

Many members are small business owners, representatives of large corporations, non-profit leaders, educators, individuals, retirees, moms, dads and anyone with a spirit of altruism and a desire to help make the community a better place by improving the lives of children and youth.

Through hands-on service projects and financial grants, the Kiwanis Club strives to enrich the lives of our communit

y children. Through the many partnerships with organizations who also focus on service projects, we support families in need, the physically challenged, school youth programs and more. Kiwanis provides mentor programs and career enrichment to high school Kiwanis "Key Clubs" and the Circle "K" college programs which teach service and leadership skills.

On April 10-12, Seven of our Kiwanis Sponsored Key Club Students, accompanied by advisors, Beth Roach and Rick Pinson, attended the Cal-Nev-Ha District Key Club Convention in Sacramento. Three bus loads of Region 8 Keys also attended. Several of our Kiwanis Key Club Members received awards and honors.

At June 17, Tuesday's Kiwanis Lunch, current and immediate past Lt Governors and officers of all eight Long Beach high school Key Clubs that we sponsor were present to share their accomplish- ments in leadership and service to the Long Beach Community.

These incredible, dedicated young people represent the future and they certainly excel in everything they have accomplished. Lydia House held its 3rd annual High Tea on the Sea. The Queen Mary hosted the event on Saturday May 24th. Lydia House (part of the Long Beach rescue mission) has been raising money to expand on their program sheltering woman & children experiencing homelessness and domestic violence. Kiwanis Member Megan Wheeler organizes monthly dinners and activities for the children at the shelter each month. Megan Wheeler and Pam Dingwall attended the tea on behalf of the Long Beach Kiwanis Club.
