Surf For All is a charity based in Long Beach, NY, dedicated to assisting people in getting people into the ocean, on to surf boards to assist in maximizing their potential. We believe the ocean is a source of healing and spiritual strength that should be accessible to all. We are a volunteer driven organization with no paid employees. Surf For All’s roots go back to 2002 with the development of a

surf program for developmentally disabled teenagers. Over the years we expanded our outings to cover a broader spectrum of disabilities–from Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, as well as visual impairment and others. We work closely with the Long Beach School District and provide free weekly lessons for students with disabilities during the summer special education program. We have also expanded beyond teenagers and work closely with Wounded Warriors, providing lessons and support for our military heroes. Our work has been featured on network television, major newspapers, radio, social media and elsewhere. Our message is always the same: We get more enjoyment out of the program than the students. Some of our students cannot walk, cannot speak, cannot see but they demonstrate shared humanity because when they get in the water they show that they know how to smile.

What a year it’s been! 🌊 In 2025, Surf For All hosted 72 adaptive surf outings, from Rockaway to Palm Springs, sharing the joy of surfing with athletes, veterans, and students of all abilities. Every wave told a story of courage, inclusion, and connection. 🤙💙

In August we had another surf outing with The FELIX Organization..

The FELIX Organization Co-Founded by Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC and Sheila Jaffe, one of Hollywood’s most successful casting agents. Both Darryl and Sheila are adoptees who realize how fortunate they are in having been “taken home” and how many boys and girls do not have the same opportunities they had. Together, they formed THE FELIX ORGANIZATION in 2006 as a vehicle to give back to the many children who grow up without parents, who have no one to take them to the movies, to a ball game, to check their homework, to help them make healthy choices and set goals.

🌊 On August 7th, we hosted an open surf outing and once again, our community showed just how strong it is. 🏄‍♂️💙

From volunteers lending a hand, to families cheering on the shore, to athletes of all abilities showing courage in the waves, the spirit of Long Beach was everywhere. These days remind us that surfing is about more than waves, it’s about inclusion, friendship, and the power of community coming together.

Huge thanks to everyone who made this day possible. Long Beach proves time and again that when we unite, amazing things happen. 🌞🌊

This was the 8th summer where Skudin Surf, Hospital for Special Surgery Penny Doerge Adaptive Academy (PDAA) and Surf For All teamed up to host an unforgettable day of adaptive surfing for their pediatric patients and their families in Long Beach, NY!
Whether it was standing up on a board for the first time or swapping stories in the sand, the young surfers radiated bravery and happiness. None of it would have been possible without our incredible staff, tireless volunteers, and the phenomenal community. pennysflight

We had an incredible Surf For All open outing today under perfect summer skies! It was inspiring to see our adaptive athletes out in the water, riding waves and sharing the stoke. We welcomed some new faces who experienced the ocean in ways they never thought possible, thanks to our amazing coaches and volunteers. The beach was filled with laughter, encouragement, and unforgettable moments of achievement.

A huge thank you to PIX11 and for joining us to capture the heart of adaptive surfing and help share our mission far and wide!”
