Long Beach Veterans Day Committee

Long Beach Veterans Day Committee Our annual parade, "A salute to those who served" has been temporarily been suspended. His original goal was to create a patriotic event in Long Beach.

The Long Beach Veterans Day Committee is a nonprofit organization who's mission is to honor servicemembers of Long Beach and the greater Southern California region. A HISTORY OF THE VETERANS DAY PARADE

The Long Beach Veterans Day Parade has grown far beyond anything former Councilman Jerry Shultz imagined back in 1996. Now with over 20 years, the Parade has grown from it's humble beginnings into

a family-oriented event that attracts close to 15,000 people. In fact in the very first year the Committee passed a hat to get enough money to buy incidentals. The first few years were very low key, then the parade began to grow, not only in size but also in notoriety. About ten years years ago the Committee began working with Pageantry Events a professional parade production company. Today the parade has a military grand marshal, a honorary grand marshal and a celebrity grand marshal. One hundred and eight men from Long Beach were killed in Vietnam and they were never recognized by their own City. Now, more than ever, we need to let our troops and veterans know that they are supported and that we appreciate their service to our Country. The Committee urges everyone celebrate our servicemembers every day, but especially on Veterans Day.
