Over a decade in the making, today marks a huge win for aquatics in Long Beach.

The Aquatic Capital of America (ACOA) was proud to be on hand celebrating the groundbreaking of the new Belmont Pool. This milestone represents years of dedication, advocacy, and community support to bring a world-class aquatic facility back to our city.

What a joyous day for the City of Long Beach and the entire aquatic community. The future is bright for swimmers, divers, water polo athletes, lifeguards, and generations of residents who will learn, train, and compete here for years to come.

Today we celebrate. Tomorrow we build the future of aquatics in Long Beach. 🌊🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️🏆

ACOA teamed up with our former VP Matt Gruneisen and his son Brendan Who is Head Aquatics Coach at Jordan High to get brand new parkas for all the students involved in aquatics!

Today we remember Tom Shadden, legendary waterman, Long Beach Yachtsman, and founder of Aquatic Capital of America.

Cheers, Tom. Your leadership, generosity, and dedication impacted countless lives throughout Long Beach and far beyond. Your passion for the water and commitment to the aquatic community continue to inspire all of us.

Tom Shadden, a well-known Long Beach yachtsman, died recently. He was 90 years old.
