The Afro Unicorn Foundation proudly kicked off its “Unique, Divine & Magical Girls” Experiences with the first-ever DREAM BIG DAY on October 12, 2024! 💖

Dream Big Day was a transformational experience designed to empower, inspire, and uplift young girls from underserved communities. ✨ Held at a private estate in Palos Verdes, CA overlooking the ocean, 15 middle school girls from Los Angeles County experienced a day filled with inspiration, leadership, and fun, leaving with a renewed belief in themselves and their dreams!

Throughout the day, participants enjoyed an exclusive screening of “Ms. April’s Crown & Bookstore”, followed by a powerful Q&A session with Afro Unicorn’s CEO and Founder, April Showers, and President, Kenyelle Ash. The girls learned life-changing lessons about resilience, teamwork, and positive self-talk! ✨

The program’s interactive elements didn’t end there. President Kenyelle Ash led a vision board session, guiding the girls to map out their dreams and aspirations. Over a delicious gourmet box lunch, complete with apple cider and mini bundt cakes, the girls connected, encouraged one another, and shared their visions, reinforcing the message that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

This uplifting energy carried through the day as they joined April Showers and the Afro Unicorn team at the GLOW+FLOW Magical Tresses Activation, dancing, laughing, and enjoying the power of community and dreaming big!

On this incredible day, we’ll charter 12 girls from the city of Compton and Los Angeles County to a stunning private estate overlooking the ocean in Palos Verdes, California.

This is a unique opportunity for her to expand her horizons, get inspired, and explore what’s possible in her life.

Congratulations to all of our “Business & Beauty” Entrepreneurship & Leadership Cohort participants presented by Dollhouse Beauty Mentorship & Training Organization in collaboration with the Afro Unicorn Foundation! ✨

On August 10th we celebrated our last day with a culmination award ceremony with certificates signed by the City of Compton Mayor & City Council! 💖

Our participants and parents shared the impact of this program and we are confident that all of these young ladies will become phenomenal entrepreneurs and leaders of their classes and community!

Thank you for visiting our “Business & Beauty” Entrepreneurship & Leadership Program presented by in collaboration with !!! 💖 Based on the girls testimonials from your talk, you truly made an impact. As our participant Marley said “I learned that whatever idea I have to just GO FOR IT & to be consistent!” ✨ All of our participants were inspired and empowered to go for their dreams! 💖

As you all can see, we are more than just a beauty class. These girls are learning business and not just learning leadership but they are applying their leadership.

We are grateful to our President Kenyelle Ash and to Darla Thompson for pouring into these girls.

Upon completion of this program, participants will also be eligible to work with Darla as a salon assistant and/or apprentice at 🙌🏾

THE BEAUTY BUSINESS ➡️ MEETS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT! 💖 💇🏾‍♀️ — Today our participants learned “Business Principles” when it comes to the beauty industry, how to display leadership & learned the foundations/basics of installing hair extensions! 💇🏾‍♀️

We are thankful for for ensuring that our girls have their doll heads and product needed to learn the Beauty Business throughout this cohort! 💖

The “Business & Beauty Cohort” presented by Dollhouse Beauty Training & Mentorship Organization in Collaboration with the Afro Unicorn Foundation is still accepting APPLICATIONS to its Entrepreneurship & Leadership program! 💇🏾‍♀️ Girls between the ages of 12-17 will learn the skill of braiding, hair extensions, crochet styles, hair molding/ponytails and haircare techniques — along with how to apply their new skills to earn money💰
