Aleth is the last recipient of our AAPI classroom library giveaway! We’re a little behind in posting, but she has her books ready for the new school year to begin. We’re so honored to support her in making sure her classroom library is inclusive and diverse.

Another wonderful teacher, and author, has received her books from our AAPI month giveaway! Ms. Londono will be taking back over 20 books to add to her classroom library this upcoming school year!

Another wonderful teacher collecting her AAPI collection of books to start the new school year with! Thank again to for the donation of Lucky Cat to kickstart our May AAPI book giveaway! Ms. Tanimoto will be adding 25 new AAPI-focused books to her classroom library!

Eid-al-Fitr Mubarak! Happy Eid!

Today is a very special day for our families who have been celebrating and honoring Ramadan. Eid-al-Fitr is the "Festival of Breaking the Fast." During Ramadan, families fast for the month, and Eid-al-Fitr culminates the fasting period.

Families celebrate with loved ones, do acts of service, have feasts, and enjoy their time together during this holiday. Mitchell is a diverse community that celebrates all families and their cultures. Acceptance begins with knowledge, and what better way to learn than with books! Check out these great reads, many of which you can find on Epic! or Youtube.

We'd like to highlight and acknowlege our communities that celebrate Ramadan! Ramadan is a festive time in Islamic communities that is meant for togetherness an community that takes place from March 22 to April 21.

Yesterday one of the teachers who received the December book grant came into to pick up her books. Serendipitously, one of her students happened to be shopping for books at the same time! The student was beyond excited to get a sneak peek at the new books coming into her classroom and pulled out the ones she wanted to read first! As you can tell by her selection, she felt very much represented in that new collection of books! This is our mission exemplified. To get kids reading, excited about reading, and connecting to what they are reading! 🤎🤎🤎

Thanks to all our wonderful donors for making these experiences for the kids and communities we serve. 🙏🏾

55 years ago, a man who lived and lost his life fighting for Justice is celebrated today. His work, advocacy, and mission for fundamental change inspired men and women of all ages — children included! During the civil rights movement, which was led by great leaders including Dr. King Jr. CHILDREN also became agents of change. Many children, youth, and teens took part in school walkouts, peaceful marches, and often times arrested.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And the legacy he created, we want to highlight his work and inspiration through the lens of children. These three great reads highlight just that — a fight for equal rights, the work of Dr. King Jr., and the children who followed in his footsteps.
