URGENT: Zeus Needs a Foster, Forever Home, or Rescue Placement in Southern California 🐾
His owner is dying. Zeus doesn’t understand why he lost the only family he’s ever known.
Meet Zeus, a lovable 2½-year-old boy whose life changed overnight.
Zeus was found as a puppy by a Vietnam veteran who loved him deeply. Unfortunately, his owner is now in a nursing home battling cancer after also undergoing a foot amputation. As his health declined, he could no longer care for Zeus, and now Zeus is left searching for a new beginning.
The person currently advocating for Zeus isn’t a family member. She’s a compassionate community member who used to deliver church meals to his owner. Over the years, she often stepped in to help when he was struggling—even helping with necessities like paying an electric bill. When she realized Zeus would be left with nowhere to go, she couldn’t turn her back on him. She has already spent almost $2000 on Zeus getting him ready for adoption and taking care of his medical needs and boarding. The wonderful people at Friends of Long Beach Animals FOLBA have also helped to pay for some of his boarding as well. We are very grateful for their help with networking him and helping with his boarding. But Zeus cannot stay in boarding forever.
Now we doing everything we can to make sure Zeus finds the loving home he deserves.
💙 Zeus has been in boarding for nearly a month and deserves so much more than a kennel. He deserves a family.
What we’ve learned about Zeus:
🐾 2½ years old
🐾 Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, healthy bloodwork, and f***l negative
🐾 Loves meeting people and greets everyone with enthusiasm
🐾 Learning leash skills and doing very well
🐾 Loves toys, especially squeaky balls that he tosses in the air and chases himself
🐾 Has met dogs nose-to-nose and appears friendly and playful
🐾 Has shown no reaction when nearby dogs became excited or reactive
🐾 Has done well meeting children, though he has not lived with kids
🐾 Has not been tested with cats
🐾 Needs continued training, structure, and guidance to help him become the best version of himself
Despite all the changes in his life, Zeus remains a happy, affectionate dog who just wants someone to love.
🏡 We are urgently seeking:
• A foster home
• An adoptive home
• A rescue willing to bring him into their program
• Volunteers who can help transport him from his boarding facility in Long Beach to adoption events in Tustin on Sundays and other events when needed
Zeus’s owner spent years loving him the best he could. Before his health failed, one of his biggest worries was what would happen to his dog.
Let’s make sure Zeus’s story has the happy ending both he and his owner deserve.
🙏 Even if you can’t foster, adopt, rescue, or transport, please share this post. The right person may see it because of you.
